Hats off to you and the crew. As a former business owner, its nice to see folks pull the curtain back and reveal the dirty laundry. Behind the big smile and cheery attitude there's always pain that you can't make part of the public face. Praying for your success and growth. :)

It seems more and more people have a sense of entitlement these days - they feel they can do what they want when and where they want (and claim it's their "right" to do so), and don't like it when people don't drop everything just to serve them instantly. I wonder what their life was like growing up to create an adult with that mindset?

Oh yes, Running a business can be sometimes be hard. We are cultivating flowers and had great problems in fall 2021 to plant them due to bad weather conditions. When we where finally able to plant the seed in it was to cold for the tulips and narcissae to make roots and in the next spring we had absolutely nothing on the fields. When your business turns left instead oft right - that hurts. We are doing winter service as well - and had not even one day with snow. So last year we sold a couple of tractors (except the most important ones) to be able to pay the bills. When summer flowers came up we where able to get the winter, spring and summer bills getting pairs but still the seed for 2023 was not paired until now. I am very thankful that my seed supplier was patient with me until now that the Easter sales manage the seed from last fall. Yes: not net and no double floor for those, who run a enterprise.

Been waiting 3 weeks for firewood. Guy had two new splitters break, and he's waiting on parts for those. He was using an older splitter, but it's quite a bit slower, and he doesn't want to do that. I offered to come run it for free, just to get the wood done, but he refused. So, yeah, I can understand the frustration from both sides. Me, I figured slow was better than none at all.

I so grateful for the views on the downside unfortunate complex realities aspect of your livelihood operating a timber sawmill and I admire your stance committed to a way of life only very few understand and huge respect ✊ I repeat absolute “tall timber “huge respect 👍🇳🇿as a long pass worker in the industry (Bench Man ) that position probably doesn’t exist in todays industry it was almost 40years ago the mill operated with 24 personnel l love ❤️ working with timber love the smell the don’t missed the hustle and bustle of multiple dangers of the job avoid finger amputation only with 10years experience just keep your chin up better days are ahead because timber will always be a sort after commodity at any price “sawdust “ = good luck 🤞

The general public is into instant gratification....I want it now exactly as I want it! In general they have no idea of what it takes to produce anything. Small producers don't have massive redundant capacity, multiple suppliers and the rest of the assets it takes to meet varying demands with a smile. Just grin and bear it the best you can. My local mill operator has a strategy for dealing with the worst of them. He tells them he is short handed and offers to speed up the order if they want to lend a hand....which is usually the end of it. His philosophy is the louder the gripe, the less they would ever consider sweating.

I’m sorry to hear of your difficulties. People don’t realize all the hard work that goes on before and after the sawmill function which is the fun part to me and I just do it as a hobby. The adversity will increase your knowledge base and make for smoother sailing in the future. I have the same mill you do without the drag back feature. Do you recommend it even without the “fingers” that are designed to keep boards from going sideways as they are dragged back? This is a standard feature on the LT70. I enjoy the channel and it’s great to see such a hard working family! Best wishes.

When I break blades in the log I use a battery powered angle grinder with a cutting disk, cutting the section that is stuck in the log makes it easy to move the saw head out of the way then using felling wedges you can separate the pieces to retrieve the small section still in the cut. Good luck with these rough few months!

@@court2379 not worth it - blades for an lt40 are only $25 to $30 typically. Unless they're bi-metal or carbide... then I suppose it could be worth it...? Usually blades break when they've been sharpened a number of times and are close to the end of their life anyways.

Looks fun. You all should take an ergonomics class and practice it just from experience because bending at the hips and lifting with your backs are going to put a lot of pressure on your lumbar region and start having bulging disc then your in for some bad times with that. Twisting with a load is also bad for that area.

Almost 40 years ago I hit rock bottom - actually went thru the bottom. Went to a pub and sat next to an old wrinkled man. His advice : *When life f#cks you, f#ck right back - life will back off eventually ! * It took some time, I never gave up and a year later my life turned a corner. He also told me to never look an try to solve the big problem - sort out the small problems that made up the big problems. Stuff you can sort out you sort out quickly quickly and then the only thing left to do is the "easy" final assembly. Good luck
