Milwaukee residents here. We had Thanksgiving dinner for six and leftovers for the rest of the weekend. We spent less than $200.

Publix Turkey Dinner, $69.99, Boars Head Sweet Slice Ham Dinner,$79.99 Turkey and Ham are not frozen. 2.5 lbs of sides..so 2 dinner packs give you 4-2.5lb of sides, gravy, and marshmallow delight. Pumpkin Pie and Apple Pies $4.99. So, for under $200, you get more food and great quality. $500, crazy.

Wow!!! $500 is way too expensive for what you got. We cater every year for Christmas Eve and it’s less expensive than that. I would find a local restaurant that caters (that’s what we do and we live in Tampa) and it’s been so easy for us! We end up with leftovers for Christmas Day.

I think i had a heart attack when he said 500 dollars. I dont care how expensive grocery are right now. With sales and everything, that box would definitely be less than half of 500! Turkey was on sale for 49 cents a pound!

I’ve done the Cracker Barrel Ready to cook Thanksgiving Meals before…you order them and then pick up the meal in the morning and then take it home to cook (warm-up). Makes my Thanksgiving prep so much easier 👍

WOW!!! $500 for that amount of food, no way. I am in the UK and I cannot believe you paid all that money for that 1 box of food. I love buying and preparing my turkey and gammon plus making my own sausagemeat stuffing and buying all the veg to go with it for Christmas. I usually prepare the gravy in advance, and you can prepare the veg in advance too, along with the roast potatoes. I hope you enjoyed it never the less. Xx

I've heard great things about ordering Thanksgiving dinner from Whole Foods. Even Costco has prepared Thanksgiving turkey and sides. I am 100% on team 'lighten your load' as needed! For some the homecooked meal is a huge deal, for others this brings a lot of stress. Do what works for you and what makes you happy.

I've been doing turkey in a cooking bag for years. ( a plastic bag from Reynolds) No prep ahead of time. Just a little salt and pepper, pop it in the bag and 2-2.5 hours later turkey is done!

We typically put our Spiral ham in the crock pot for 6-8hours. Then its out of the oven and it makes it super moist.

We do that too usually and put our turkey in a roaster. Works out wonderfully.

My Christmas ham goes in the instant pot for 3mins, then just about 20mins in the oven to crisp out the outside. Ham is precooked, so you really only need to warm it up

This is what I was going to say. Most good grocery stores offer the fully cooked meal, and often just the meats. I'd definitely check that out next time. Happy Thanksgiving.

having things ready to go sounds like a dream for a giant extended family meal. I used to work in a restaurant & Mum decided the family would all come in for xmas lunch for a few years. No mess, no clean up, everyone gets to relax. the dog got a giant bag of leftovers. winning all around. it is wild to me that you dont have to have a pool fence. in Australia you have to have a fence & visible first aid instructions & it has to be signed off by a certifier.

You can always heat or cook things on your grill. Use indirect heating. Heat one side, put the turkey or ham in a foil pan on the other side. I have cooked several turkeys this way. And two hams this way. Delicious! - and frees up oven space!!!😂

For the future, you could have used your gas grill as an oven to warm up the turkey and the ham. I have done that in the past.

$500 sounds super ridiculous for the quality. You could make an amazing thanksgiving dinner yourself for that amount. And I agree, it's a lot of work, but that's how I show love - cooking and baking - so seems silly to me. Thats just mY OPINION

We order a full Thanksgiving meal from our local grocery. We just warm it up on Thanksgiving. It is very stress reducing. We got 1 large turkey, potatoes, squash, dressing, cranberry sauce, rolls, and one pie. It was $80. Fantastic!

We’ve been doing a pre-cooked turkey from Sam’s Club since last year and it’s worked out really well for us! I still make everything else, but having not to do the entire process with the turkey relieved a lot of the stress. Thanks for trying it out to show us all! Glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

$500??? We ordered our dinner from Bob Evans, $100, and absolutely delicious. Came with everything from the cranberry sauce to the pumpkin pie. I was happy with that. No way I’m ever gonna spend $500!

@@bridgetclement2968 sure is…just google Bob Evans. They delivered it curbside, I picked it up on Wednesday and they include. Brochure that tells you exactly when to heat up in the oven, for how long, then when to heat the other sides on the stove. Everything came out perfectly. The only thing that I did buy separately was squash…I bought a container of the creamed squash from BJ’s. But other than that everything was included. No muss no fuss.

Whole Foods all the way. For groceries and Thanksgiving. Whole Foods is so much cheaper than they use to be since Amazon bought them. And the quality has not gone down. Bonus, no excess chemicals, salt and sugar in the foods sold in their stores due to their all natural mission statement 👍🏻

For that price I would have it catered. That was a WOW price. I spent two days cooking for 10 minutes of eating. Next year I think we will go to Cracker Barrel. We have ordered thanksgiving dinners from different local restaurants since the pandi and have had so good to great meals. It is now our new thanksgiving tradition. We always have leftovers for Friday and very minimal prep and cleanup. We love it.

I bought a frozen turkey at the grocery store for $8 this year... I haven't itemized a ham + half a dozen pre-fabbed sides... but I'm pretty sure I could do way WAY better than $492 without even trying... And if I bought the sides at the grocery store deli they wouldn't even be frozen, lol. Granted the turkey was raw, but still, you thaw it and you pop it in the overn for a few hours. Same basic cooking process no? And pretty much ALL frozen hams are pre-cooked. I don't see where you're saving much of anything in the way of prep-time over the grocery store when you still have to oven cook the ham and the turkey from frozen... You can buy premade sides at the store (frozen and unfrozen) which seem highly similar to the ones in this box (if not bigger). This seems like... a CRAZY bad purchase. This strikes me as in no way more convenient and a WHOLE lot more expensive than just buying the same equivalent stuff at the grocery store. The only perk here seems to be delivery to your door (And most grocery stores can do that this day in age too! ... lol...)

We bought all Trader Joe's sides this year. It was pretty much the same convenience as the Harry and David for a fraction of the price. We did cook turkey but that was it. By far the most stress free Thanksgiving ever.

I’ve lived in several towns that had local restaurants that you can order the special meal ahead of time and pick it up that morning. Over the years we ordered Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter from different restaurants. Some were fantastic others were ok. Over the years I’ve ordered different items from Harry & David and to be honest it can be hit or miss. Hope yours was great!

Yes. The more items in the oven, slows the cooking process. Turn the heat up a bit if doing three or four items at once in the oven.

Hey Tim and Jenn. Happy belated Thanksgiving! In my opinion $500 for that pre-made food was overpriced. With the economy the way it is a lot of families can not afford that much money for one meal. Our family had to cook our own food but it was about $100 at most. Anyway, thanks for sharing the option and your holiday adventures.

I highly recommend you get the ButterBall cook from frozen turkey with stuffing. It is SO easy and no defrosting necessary. You stick it in the oven for 8-10 hours, set it, and forget it. I would suggest you get one for next year!

I am sorry, but 500 Dollars for that is insane. I totally understand paying a bit more for convenience and time savers... But you still had to thaw the meat regardless and the portion sizes for the sides were crazy small for what was supposed to be for 10 people. Also, if everyone brought sides anyway... you essentially only paid 500 Dollars for a turkey, the ham and some desserts... when you could have spent less than a fifth of that. That was a crazy costly experiment...

🕯Happy Holidays🎄 Thanksgiving seemed to still go well for y'all, even though the expensive dinner wasn't what y'all excepted. My Mom and her Boyfriend's Mom cooked all the food we ate, Turkey, dressing, veggies, chocolate pie. It took them the day before and the day of Thanksgiving to cook it all, but they teamed up and split who cooked what and it turned out so delicious. Leftovers for 2 days delicious 😋 Hope the Holidays go well. Enjoy family and friends with love. This was goid to know about what y'all had for Thanksgiving. Thanks for sharing with us. A few years ago we bought an Oster plug in roasting pan for a turkey at Wal-Mart. It does a great job and was only $20. It cures the extra oven problem. We are also in Florida so we use the roaster outsider for lots of things during the hot weather and it prevents the house from heating up. Harry and David is great for lots of foods, they are famous for their pears which are amazing.

Another easy Thanksgiving option to consider is Coopers Hawk Thanksgiving dinner. It’s more like a catering order where you can pick it up the day before, it all comes fresh and you just warm everything up. It’s so simple and tastes so good! We’ve done it 2 years in a row now and it’s been such a life saver for us. It serves 6 at $199 so it is cheaper than the Harry and David option but it doesn’t serve as many.

Willamette Valley Pie Co makes some of the best pies, glad it was so good. Honestly for $500 would expect better packaging and larger sides but can’t beat the convenience.

Sorry but coming from a Cooks perspective that was Subpar for 500. For 250-300 I fed Twelve with leftovers. N that was everything A-Z for the Whole day.

Happy Thanksgiving! I always buy my ham and turkey pre-cooked from Kroger. Pro-tip, I reheat mine in a Reynolds oven bag. It keeps them super moist and it’s very easy!

I'm so happy to hear you guys had a wonderful Thanksgiving. My son and I spent Thanksgiving at Disney Springs and we ate at Frontera Cocina...so no turkey but the food was good haha. It was a very quiet Thanksgiving with just the two of us but it was a beautiful day and we saw Santa haha. I am so grateful and thankful for you both. Sorry about the dryness. Usually you defrost at room temp/fridge prior to heating in oven. Glad your family time was enjoyed.

Great Thanksgiving dinner review! Everything looks super delicious!!! We used to live in Oregon in the Willamette Valley and the pie company is one I've never heard of until now. Thank you for sharing! I remember going to farms to pick berries and beans to make money as a teen. Some of the best berries I've tasted! Still not a fan of beans Lol You are such a precious family - wishing you Happy Holidays, Happy Birthday to Jenn and Jackson!
