Welcome to our video of the historic town of Nördlingen in Bavaria,
Another beautiful town on Germany's Romantische Straße or Romantic road. The town was formed in a crater, it is still surrounded by its medieval walls, with ancient gatehouses & historic towers. Within its walls is a fine medieval town to be explored, and we follow part of it's historic tour * , along its walls, discover its streets and head to the centre of the Altstadt, or old town.

Nice overview. It's also worth visiting the Rieskrater Museum which is all about the meteor that struck here about 15 million years ago and wiped out all life for hundreds of kilometers and formed over 70,000 tons over micro-diamonds. They have a brilliant video about it with a jaw-dropping animation of the impact

hi theres an anime called "Attack on titan" and it‘s very famous like very very very VERY famous and it is playing in Nördlingen (also i live near Nördlingen) and yes so where are the titans?? i cant see them🤜

Planning to visit Germany, and since I'm a big AOT fan I just HAVE to visit Nördlingen. 100% taking pictures with the survey corps uniform and a red scarf there.

thank you for the video! Really informative If you don't know it, there's an anime titled "Attack On Titan", which the city aesthetics and infrastructure in the series really looks like Nordlingen.

I'm very happy to see that Nordlingen is getting a lot of attention. Haha, yes I'm an Attack on Titan fan, but I also appreciate the actual history of this town . Haha it's amazing how travel can bring us together

Es sieht sehr wundervoll aus. Es gibt sogar ein Anime Show namens Attack On Titan (Angriff auf die Titane) wo es hier in Nördlingen stattfindet.

Miranda, Thanks so much. Well we've a few more travels planned. I (Gary), just need to pull my finger out and turn them into videos. We've a bit more of the UK planned for the near future, plus a trip around Spain in the autumn, and hopefully back to Germany for Christmas, and maybe a sprinkling of something else in between. little fun fact. im from germany and a friend of my dad works in the church tower. there is a cat. a cat lives in the office on the church tower

Hi my friend, are you from Nördlingen? I did not know that about the church cat, and I am slightly ashamed we did not climb the tower. However, when we were in Münster, we met Martje, the tower keep, and she mentioned the tower at Nördlingen as one of Germany's great ones. The medieval wall looks the same as Rothenburg's. I think there may be less tourists than Rothenburg which will be more relaxing for sightseeing.

🙏 Thanks so much - they are very similar, but I think Rothenburg is probably the more touristy - there get a lot of coach parties so it is quieter in the evening - We've been twice to Rothenburg and loved it - especially good at Christmas 😍

1:40 you don't have that in the rest of the world? It's called a Wetterhahn (weather rooster) and is used to tell the wind direction as it can freely rotate around its axis (hence its on the roof) quite a common sight on German houses and on every Catholic church (Catholic ones have a weather rooster on top of their tower, protestant ones a cross, this way you can distinguish which church belongs to your confession at a glance)

Ah, we would call it a weather vane, serves the same purpose, often with the points of a compass below it so you can tell the direction of the wind. I suspect what confused me was that it was perfectly aligned with the roof - just luck. Thanks for the comment, happy and safe travels, Gary & Janis

As a tourist and a foreigner without knowledge of 'Attack on Titan', I took it for a charming, historic, medieval Bavarian town with friendly people - we loved our brief time there. What did we miss?
