In today's vlog we head over to St. Augustine Florida, the oldest city in the United States! We took a full tour of The Castillo de San Marcos, a 17th century Spanish stone fortress, which was awesome! We also checked out The Oldest House and the oldest wooden school house. There was so much cool Florida history here and we can't wait to go back and check out the things we missed! Thanks for watching and we'll see you tomorrow with a new vid!

Sometimes when they take old gravestones away to get repaired and cleaned up, they leave markers behind to make sure they are put back at the correct grave, especially if they take more than one away at once. This is a lovely looking town, and something different to do . Nice to see old towns and buildings.

Thank you, Tim! What an absolutely amazing place! So stunningly beautiful. I love historical places. There is nothing better than an old building with rich character and centuries of stories to tell. Imagine if those walls could talk! And it's such a quaint little place. A whole lotta old Spanish history with a bit of a Caribbean flair. Most of the time you can feel it's Spanish heritage, but every once in a while, Dutch and English influences show up to say hello. Kind of like Key West meets Puerto Rico. I am putting it on my wish list of places to visit!

Another post recommended the pirate museum, I do as well. The figures are made by Potters, and all artwork and costumes are done by local artist and students. Most of the artifacts on display were discovered in the St Augustine area. Other pieces on loan are from other areas along Florida's' coastline. All pieces are relevant to the history of the city and its connection with pirates.

@TheTimTracker Excellent video!! Went there last year while on vacation. I would def suggest taking the trolly tour. Def worth it. It's about an hour long or so and going through multiple areas of town while an announcer says what it is and the history of it. There's a chocolate factory nearby. Across the bridge on the right side of the fort is an alligator farm. Hope to see you do a vid of Daytona Beach soon. ..place is spectacular.

I live just 45 minutes away. The room you were asking about in the fort at 12:22 apparently was a dungeon in the northeast bastion was accidentally discovered in 1833. In it were found crumbled human bones. You guys should check out the night lights and the decorations during the Holidays. It’s really beautiful. My favorite bar there is Scarlet O' Hara. You should check it out next time!

So, a year late but, a lot of St. Augustine is so old that there is probably always something that has to be done to repair the old gravestones, buildings, and or the plaques and signs on them. As, I'm sure you can imagine major rainstorms that we get in FL affect the historic preservation of the stones and other buildings. Especially, after Hurricane Irma St. Augustine had to have a major rebuild and dealt with a lot of flooding. Up till this year they have finally gotten the St. Augustine's Shrine graveyard fixed up. The town is still amazing though and definitely a must see.

Hey Tim. Really appreciate that you came up to my hometown of St Augustine. Just kinda wish you had researched our history a bit first. Many times during your video here you say "Gosh, I wonder what this is" and things like that. Every question you have in your video is easily answered by most St Augustinians. When you say, "some of this stuff looks really old." I feel I have to tell you, Ponce de Leon and his crew were the first Europeans to set foot in what we call America; the year was 1513. Just for the record, that's 102 years before the Pilgrims landed in what became Plymouth. St Augustine is the oldest continuously occupied European-founded city in what we call America. The city was founded in 1516. For anyone visiting our town, I highly recommend taking the Old Town Trolley Tour before you do much of anything else. The live narration on the tour will tell you just about everything you need to know about our amazing city. It's a great way to start your vacation.
