"Tell your wife to be quiet"... It is your fault Ezekiel. You could at least have taught her the basics like "Don't say anything while they talking" I am Congolese and I can relate. My sister in law almost died when my mom almost died after she saw the menu and said she was not coming because she don't wanna be embarrassed. Talking about her friend can't eat sweet meat... Kayana, I am glad you stayed around, now look at how blessed your are...LOL

I RATHER A GREAT MARRIAGE THAN THE OVER THE TOP WEDDING, ON ANY GIVEN SUNDAY BECAUSE AS YOU BOTH STATED IT SHOULD BE ABOUT THE TWO OF YOU AND GOD. SO MANY TIMES WE GET CAUGHT UP INTO THE OUTTER APPERANCE OF A RELATIONSHIP THAN THE INNER CONNECTION WITH YOUR PARTNER AND GOD. WE GET CAUGHT UP INTO THE DAY THAN THE JOURNEY GOD HAS PREPARED FOR US. BEING TRANSPARENT IS SOOO NEEDED THANKS AGAIN. 👑👑👑👑👑

I love this. My husband and I are the opposite of yall. Im the 1st gen Amer and he is the American and my parents said the same thing! That it wasnt our wedding but theirs. But we refused to take their money because it was only offered so they can control. And spiritually, allowing parents to control a wedding is opening a door for them to think they control the marriage and we werent having it. It was stressful making sure our will was not pulled against by carnal people and we leaned on each other and Christ. Its nice to see other young people our age saved and happily wed showing the world it can be done. So many people meet us and are asking questions. Yes saved couples in the Lord exist!

The food, the music, the guests...I had my Pinterest-perfect wedding planned out to a 't' in my head, but then I also had my (very traditional) in-laws and hello, "this wedding is not for you". yeeeeesss, the type of guests really does determine the kind of gifts. lol. the same "older" guests I fought the idea of were the same people that had super solid gifts! I have planned out several wedding scenarios for any budget and wants: rooftop, formal hall, court house then lunch/brunch, backyard, b&b, or destination already. The wedding is the easiest part for me, I've been to a million weddings in my 22 years and I saw all levels of family involvement, drama and disaster. The marriage prep will be my focus once I get engaged, simply sitting down with a wedding planner to rundown EXACTLY what we like or don't, our budget and leave it in their hands. No stress, hard limit on the guest list and boundaries with my family in love, because I know my family won't be pressuring me to do anything I don't want to or can't afford. We can enjoy the celebration and life together.

While I agree that planning for the marriage is more important than planning for the wedding.....my husband & my wedding was exactly how we envisioned it because we....say it with me...stuck to our budget!! Note we were a 40-something American couple. We set our budget before we discussed plans with family. We also agreed that the day had 1 purpose: focus must be on us coming together as ONE. So anything that didn't align with that purpose was overruled. We made that clear up front. I'd seen too many brides crying the night before because of drama & opinions that had nothing to do with her & her husband coming together & didn't want that for myself. Get your do over!! I pray it's the vision you desire & deserve.

Bridal shows are a great way to try & win things & not break the bank. From research, if you want an elegant type of a venue on a budget is to do an all-inclusive venue. It's good to have an all-inclusive venue so those involved with the wedding like photographer & band & guest won't have to drive to another location for the reception. Even if there are hiccups, it won't look so bad! For example, a golf course or hotel that can do an outdoor reception with a strolling reception outdoor as well on a patio or balcony. Then you're not double charged for outdoor & indoor fees. Do it during the off season and/or a non typical wedding day like Friday evening or Sunday it's cheaper. Usually these venues you can have a changing room onsite & golf carts to escort older guests. The strolling reception will allow you to order hors d'oeuvres vs a full plated dinner at $30 a plate & up. When serving the food, have servers go around serving & stations. Buy wine for the groom, bride, & bridal party & sparkling cider for everyone else to do the toast. Have them only serve a portion of the food in spurts vs. all at once. Give a cut off time for serving the food. For the cake, get a separate cake for the bride & groom & do miniature cupcakes, macaroon, candies for the guest-most folks waste cake nowadays. Have the first dance, daddy daughter dance, mother & son dance 1st so photographers don't have to find & gather everyone & everything is still in tact. Hire someone that can set up & tear down included in the fees if outdoor wedding. Have all the decorations pre made & everyone's bouquet & boutonnieres in a box so no one forgets or loses them. Measure before hand so you won't have to cut anything. The night before or morning of, all you have to do is place items on the tables and/or do chair covers. There are plenty of sites including Amazon where you can find nice decorations for cheap. For the reception, while the bridal party are taking pictures, have activity stations such as where should they travel, what advice would you give to keep people busy & not be antsy.

I feel this video sooo much 😭 it confirms that I’m right 🤣 I’m 22 in college now with no money. So I’m frugal denna mug! When I get a real job(lol) I want to invest in da CRIB, da CAR, da HONEYMOON. Not a dress or a ceremony! But das me doe 🤷🏿‍♀️ I like to look at unconventional weddings dresses under $100 for fun 💅🏿 (Lulus & Windsor will bless you)
