August 17, 2019, our dancers Spyros and Paraskevi got married in the village of Apladiana-Mylopotamos in a traditional way.
The Cretan tradition has a rich folkway with various customs. One of the most important cretan customs, is the cretan wedding.
The best man, Giorgos Petrakis is the teacher & leader of the Cretan traditional dance group "Krites".

From a Sicilian-American brother, both my parents had last names that were from Greece. I had tears watching this, and I greet my brothers and sisters of Crete, Greece and Albania (Arbëreshë). We are one in Sicily. As a Catholic priest, I extend my absolute best wishes to my Orthodox brothers and sisters. Long live my brother and sisters of the Orthodox Church; long live my brothers and sisters of Crete and Greece: long live my Arbëreshë (Albanian) brothers and sisters of my beloved island. We are one blood and family, diverse as we may be. We are one.

Such a beautiful tradition. Thank you for sharing it. So many touching moments full of emotion. For example, during the dancing, a child of about six or seven is seen dancing with the adults, a moment she wil certainly remember if and when her turn comes to participate more fully in such an event. I am full of admiration for the traditions of Cretan music and dance but to see them here in cultural context puts them on another level for me as a stranger. Great photography, great directing and editing.

We suffer the same sufferings, only our culture and our sociability save us and makes our sufferings bearable. I will tell you a mantinada that we say in Crete: "Θεέ μου και ίντα παράξενοι οι εδικοί μας τόποι, θλιμμένα τα τραγούδια μας μα γελαστοί ανθρώποι" Oh my God , how strange is our homeland, our songs are sad but smiling people

Lived in Crete for a long time. This is the first time though I learned the true meaning of 'bread' in the ceremony. What a perfect wedding. May the couple have a long and properous life together.

La alegria y la felicidad de la celebración de una boda por lo que es: la unión de dos familias a través de sus hijos, la tradición y la herencia de generaciones anteriores que sobrevive a traves de un hombre y una mujer, el regocijo de los padres de ver a sus hijos conformar un hogar propio. Esto es lo que perdieron en Europa y paises anglosajones, el acompañamiento familiar en las buenas y las malas.

My grandparents imigrated form Crete to Montania Türkey after Lozan conventıon.You’cant imagine how traditions and food culture still lives down here. God bless all the hümans who suffer form homesick....

Russia has never helped Greece; on the contrary, they supported the Turks with weapons when the Greeks were just before Ankara.

Superb wedding protocols & traditions. It’s great that they are still practiced & carried on for generations to come. Venetians & Turks should take interest as their influences are evident here & there mixed with Greek traditions. Maybe Minoan & Egyptian influences are hidden in their too. Traditional dances of nations & their wedding ceremonies show history better than any other way. Congratulations to the producers of this video. Make many more from all around the Mediterranean & the EU.

Я последние 3 года с друзьями побывал на Крите . Мы просто влюбились в критян ! О греческих свадьбах слышал много , и о больших , и маленьких . Но это видео ! Просто ВЗРЫВ ! Ни слова не понял по гречески , но абсолютно ВСЁ ПОНЯТНО ! Наверно потому что мы Православные .
