Our weekly worship service rehearsal schedule

This is our weekly process as we prepare for Sunday morning. Our goal is to create a worship service that eliminates distractions. We want the service to feel effortless, which ironically requires a great deal of effort.
This video covers:
1. How we prepare the band prior to the midweek rehearsal during Planning Center Online
2. How we divide up the band and vocal rehearsals before coming together for the final run-throughs
3. Why we record the final run-through of our midweek rehearsal, so we can listen and critique prior to Sunday
4. How we cast the spiritual vision for the service with both our tech and worship team

Is your tech team there for the Thursday night rehearsal? If so, are they there the whole time?

Hey Dave, This is a great video! I can't believe how similar we are in our approach to rehearsal and prep. One thing we are dealing with right now is how to address me not being on the stage during the first part of rehearsal (as I also listen to tone, mix, etc.) The band has a hard time playing unless I am singing and playing my guitar, as they feel it is too empty. My current solution is to create a station to play way out in the congregation where I can play/listen...kind of. It has been working okay, but I would like to find a better solution. What have you been doing?

+Dave Dolphin Hey Dave, Actually I tend to use the electric more than the acoustic. We have lost 3 of our electric guitarist due to moving/graduating/etc. I really like the ideas of a scratch vocal and trying a budding worship leader. Both great ideas! I could even record a scratch vocal as we play to a click.

Water fountain? You mean the white water cooler for drinking water? We just put it on a small dolly and bring it out for rehearsal-for easy access to water while singing. 🤓
