Hey there my productive people! In today's video I unbox the new Oura Ring Generation 3! I have been using Oura products for a little over 3 years now and I've got to say, I am always impressed when it comes to their sleep tracking and readiness scores they give you.
With this update the Oura Ring just got a whole lot better with live heart rate tracking, better temperature tracking, a new meditation experience and much more.

Because I have a hard time appreciating the opinions of people in general I bought this Oura ring for myself. The subscription is an accurate "opinion" translated in real time for me, which leaves me no choice but to get my crap together. Thank you for your review. It was nice to hear honesty.

Everyone reviewing the Oura ring is hating over the membership subscription for the data. Oura has to earn some money to keep the storage and servers running. The cost of the ring is for the ring only. You are lucky if you were a gen 1 and/or 2 and got your data for free. It is not unreasonable to ask for customers to pay for access to data and only $6 is a bargain. I just ordered my Oura ring gen3 a week ago and got the sizing kit today and ordered the ring today and it has been shipped. I am glad of a free 6 months subscription, and I don’t mind paying for it afterwards.

Subscription service is a deal breaker for me, especially at this price point. Maybe things will change for the version 4.

Yep...i initially was very excited about the ring... But now the company has closed the door to me with stupid subscription fees

Has Oura ever gotten back to you, or anyone, about the appropriateness of the sudden firewall? And do you know if there are plans to hew a little more closely to their mission of better healthcare data for everyone?

I was waiting the gen 3 to buy but I'll passing it bc the subscription. I'm buying a hardware not renting a service... The can have paid service for deep analysis not for basic data like heart rate or temperature. Now that subscription is mandatory to access anything so if the company closes I'll have no access to nothing.

My Dad has the OURA Ring gen 2 and gen 3, they are both pretty cool!

I like the idea of a ring instead of a wrist wearable, but the performance of the Oura Ring Gen 2 wasn't up to the level of devices like Fitbits. Oura released a paper about the Gen 3 which looks very promising, so I decided to take a chance on the Gen 3. The revised sleep algo apparently won't be available until next year. I hope it's available soon, because after 6 months I might just stop using the ring.

I don’t have a link. They don’t have an open affiliate program. Sometimes you can find $50 off discounts online though.

The ring is a nice idea, but its quite expensive and sub is totally no go. Anyway, there a Circular smart ring coming out now, and no sub here :)

There's also the Whoop 4.0 which seems like a good option, it's lower cost upfront but it requires sub. It's more of a wristband though. I've heard that the new one they just came out with is even better than Oura ring.

@@ProductiveDude im not fan of Whoop, dont like sub and dont like wristband. For a day i use galaxy watch 4 and im pretty happy with it. But sometimes i just take them off at home and never use them at night. I just want my hand free as much as possible. You mean Circular? Im waiting for it :)

What are you referring too? The 3 and 2 have those charging chips. Is there something bad about that?

@@ProductiveDude One question I have is whether Gen3's wireless charging technology is licensed by the FCC (I haven't seen any reports on this) or is it just certified by other countries for wireless charging technology? Is it harmful to humans? I can't tell, but I can't find out the specific model of the wireless charging receiver chip used in Gen3.

Why do all the men reviewers feel the need to talk about the usefulness of period tracking? As a woman who has been having a period for close to 2 decades, it isn’t exactly rocket science1 even when I don’t track it, it is pretty clear when it is about to start - starting with mood changes in the few days leading up to it and physical indicators the day before. I guess it is interesting to have data that double confirms what I already knew, but wholly unnecessary.

I just wanted to acknowledge that it got added to the ring but in all honesty, it is completely useless to ME. If it's useful for you that's great. Hope you enjoyed the rest of the honest review. The temperature tracking feature is good for many things, it's been great for tracking my overall readiness and understanding when I'm getting sick.

I'm 49. This information is really useful for perimenopausal and menopausal women. It's not just about period _tracking_, it's about helping to predict the thing when your body goes haywire, because the medical industrial complex hasn't gotten their sh*t together to figure out exactly what happens in a woman's body when she goes perimenopausal. Plus, not everyone's period is regular.
