Manuals are about as essential to riding BMX as it gets. It makes cruising down the street more fun, it makes hills the best thing ever, and it can connect every trick you'll ever learn to every other trick you'll ever learn. We hit up Demarcus Paul, who's known for being rather good at manuals, and had him run through the basics...
Thanks to odigrips.com/ for sponno'n this series and helping us keep the lights on. If you need some grips, ODI has the best in the game.

LuXe Spain a A lot depends on your height and top tube length too. I’m 6’2”, ride 21” tt, and can’t manual with my ass low or back like most. My arms never fully lock, stay slightly bent and I can manual just fine this way. Everyone has a different way that feels comfortable. Best way to learn is to try different positions til you feel the most comfortable!

awesome video. i have one question tho which i really need help with. nobody responded so far on that subject =/ i tried to manual a few times now and everytime i loop out, i fall and it hurts a lot. i cant get off the pedals, if i jump, it only makes it worse since my feet are on the pedals and i only push the bike even harder away then. practiced jumping off but i dont really know how to. Can anyone send me a video on how to bail it? i really dont dare to practice manuals because of this. i always fall really hard and its no fun at all with no results
@OurBMX
@OurBMX 4 жыл бұрын
Not sure of your setup, but maybe try lowering your seat to make sure you don’t get hung up on it? If you feel yourself about to loop out, don’t lean forward to try to save it while you’re learning. You should be able to get your feet off and not fall. Good luck my dude!

Amazing rider for sure. But if you watch his technique. He throws the body back to help get the tyre up, not just pulling hard with arms. He also uses hip position to adjust his balance while in it not arms. Also not sure about why you wouldnt set a target distance, wouldnt that help you track your progress and keep eyes up.
