This was so helpful 🗣😭👏🏽 Our 3 year old grandson we’re raising has all the signs of autism and adhd. We’re still waiting on Nationwide Children’s Hospital to give him an appointment with the behavioral health team. We’ve been waiting for months!

You are such a strong Mommy. I haven't even met you, but want to give you a hug. I too seem to be following in your footsteps. My son is very intelligent, but as he nears age 3, I worry immensely. His sister is 9 months old. He goes from hugging & kissing her to shoving & slapping her in an instant. Only my fiance & I can understand him half of the time. He starts shrieking & throwing himself on the floor completely randomly at the drop of a hat...I am beside myself and so scared. I have no choice but to work full-time - we wouldn't make it otherwise. I don't know where you are but I finally feel like I've found a mom who gets it. I love him SO much - he's my everything, but I know I can't protect him forever. Thank you for all that you do - and please keep your videos coming...They let us know we're not alone.

Very good video. Glad to see your channel doing so well. The 3rd year was quite a year for you guys. Glad you found some answers. I still remember my speech therapy. They had a trick to use peanut butter to help me pronounce the words better. Another machine used cards with magnetic strips on it. one side the word was pronounced, they re-incert it and I would pronounce the word again and it would record me. They made it fun for me. Funny I still remember that. million years later.

Just watched this one even though it's old. Just wanted to say don't give up on your dream to go back to school someday. You never know! I went back 5 years ago and I'm about to graduate with my Masters in Counseling at age 45. You'd be awesome as a therapist!

I don't know very much about Autism so I wanted to ask you. When Noah misbehaves, can a child with autism respond to discipline/ consequences like a child without? I have heard many parents of autism say there is aggression at times. Can a child with autism have a time-out and it be effective? I use to Nanny for a little girl who was non verbal, she had Angelmans syndrome. When she would hit or throw tantrums, I was told by her parents and therapist to be firm and put her in time-out every time. The therapist said she needed consistency even with special needs. Have you experienced aggression with Noah, and how do you guys handle it?

Aw, take heart! My own son is 26 now, and eventually achieved all the necessary tasks to becoming a self-supporting adult. My advice is never allow non-professionals to tell you what is best for your child. Immediately make best friends with a great occuparional therapist too! They will help and guide you better than anyone! Yes, we had loads of crises to overcome, but with a cool level head, these too pass. I adore my son. Such a sweet gentle soul now

Such a brave dedicated mom!!I have friends with children with autism as well. Check out the organization Autism One - they have so many qualified professionals that know how to help "some" of the most severe cases of autism. Some cases end up with little improvement sadly. Check #CDCwhistleblower and #HearThisWell and #WeDid for more parents sharing their children's autism diagnosis and journey. So many brave souls doing the best they can to help their sweet children. LearnTheRisk.org is a non-profit organization started by a good friend of mine, that might be helpful for some as well.

Hey I am a mom to a child with autism, how do you deal with the tantrums
@theburasfamily9194
@theburasfamily9194 4 жыл бұрын
Following for tips, too. My son has serious tantrums. So bad that he has even choked my other son and another kid at the sitters and its ticking time bomb anywhere we go. He is inconsolable and hasn't developed the skill to self soothe and his 3. I have seen a lot of signs since about 14 or 15 months old. I believe there is something not typical with him and he just had to finally get on a low dose medication to help with his acting out. I dont want there to be anything wrong with him, he significantly scored high, most symptoms except he would give eye contact. The autism screening when he was younger showed a high probability of having it and then we saw speech progress so again we keep being in denial. I have another child on the spectrum as well and my husband also has a teenager with it. I really wish I knew why so many kids have disabilities these days. Its mindblowing and we need better answers. When my son was a baby he would do this high pitched screaming and he wouldn't calm like other kids. He would do this the entire time we were out and couldn't regulate his emotions and was very irritable and would not stop acting out until we got home. It was miserable and I kept secondquessing myself, but hes on the list to see the specialist.

That’s the hardest thing to deal with. I came across some amazing support group of ot, speech therapist , teachers and a psychiatrist that have made this process much easier to handle.

Ok the playing with knives and hurting animals isn't just Autism, those are serious issues that you should really get checked out and are major signs of Antisocial Personality Disorder. I research this stuff daily too as it's my Autistic special interest. Jeffery Dahmer was also known for playing with knives from a very young age, it's even more disturbing that he was simulating cutting his sisters neck and you should really take this seriously. I'm not trying to scare you but please, please get this checked into by a professional who specializes in APD. Antisocial Personality Disorder is the disorder that can turn into psychopathy and is usually present in serial killers. It's a cluster B personality disorder which is one of the more serious ones. They can have multiple comorbid conditions so this can align with ODD, ADHD, ASD, and whatever else you can really think of. Get it checked out before it's too late.

No, it's VERY typical of autism. They don't understand awareness of danger or how to express their emotions with animals. He is now 13 and the sweetest boy EVER, loves animals. Yes, if thats the only issues you have it can be a cause for concern but he was evaluated via many psychiatrists.

@@OurLANDingCrew8 it's actually not, and they can be very charming when they get older and learn to hide it. My brothers and I all have ASD, and none of us have hurt animals. With the exception of me pulling legs off a lizard as a kid thinking I could make it a snake. Anyway, not saying it to upset you, just something you should really get checked out. I get he's your kid but denial in this situation could be very bad.
