I don't have big closets or big baths...Kevin, we love you, but Laine is a lovely lady. We know you know that💕 I am always amazed at the rude things people say! I'm in Tampa Bay but I live in a run down ranch. I lost my hubby 11 years ago at just 54. I'm ready to move on, literally, physically and mentally!!! I do love dogs though and am a pet sitter. You can bring your puppies and I'll love on them a whole bunch❣

I’m late to the argument, but as a retired person, there are a lot of us who need to have our own bedrooms for various reasons. Then the 3rd bedroom can be an office/computer room to keep all that junk out of the main part of the house. Definitely 3-3.

I💜 Art Deco as well! I lived in Florida for 20 years and used to hang out on South Beach when the Deco hotels were rundown and full of artists and elderly people. I would love to see a Deco house be restored I have not seen that style of a home even worked on. I bought a craftsman style house ceiling 9ft4in tall💜!!! My sister has ranch house 8ft ceiling so I understand once you go tall you never want to go low again. Thanks for being yourselves!!! I wish you both health and happiness!

I just found your channel and I want to thank you so much for giving these ol' gals the love they deserve. Your new bathroom is lovely and it really does inspire me to get working on my own projects! I bought a 1937 house in 2019 and I'm doing what you do -- updating it while keeping as much as I can original. I'm living here and doing as much as I can myself so I'm doing one room at a time. I think many folks passed on my little gem because, while it's small, the main issue is that every floor but the basement is very sloped, which can be very scary to a buyer if they don't know, as I did, that her foundation is sound and that she was built that way, as my structural engineer agreed! One gets used to living on a slope, and leveling feet for furniture is a thing. (My theory is that the garage section of the foundation cracked and shifted while they were building and they just kept right on truckin'.) I have all orginal (unpainted) doors, mouldings, and hardware minus two interior glass doors that I hope to find a match for at a salvage yard at some point. Someone in the past got rid of them, and now I have to suffer with food smells traveling from the kitchen into the living room. (I'm counting the years until folks start realizing that this open-plan trend is garbage unless you like your sofa to smell like roast turkey.) We must all think about how these homes were designed instead of ripping things apart willy nilly.

I am so happy I came across your KZfaq channel. You both are so cute. I was checking out the Brandon plantation. That place is amazing. I love the idea of restoring very old homes. My favorite homes are Victorian and plantation homes. I would love hanging out with Laine and getting so many cool ideas from her. Both your personalities are fun.

I remember when my mother "shellacked" my brother's bedroom floor in the house I grew up in that was built in 1909. With in a week the shellac was peeling off of the wood. We lived in Hampstead, MD at the time. Humidity destroyed the shellac. (That and the windows may have been left open during a rain storm a time or two.) Thinking back, The floors were all heart wood oak and already had a finish on them. She didn't do any sanding or prep work prior to applying the shellac. She just painted it on with a three inch paint brush.
@OurRestorationNation2 жыл бұрын
Shellac isn’t really an appropriate applications for floors even with prep

@@OurRestorationNation I learned that with this video. It's just a childhood memory I have from 1974/75. I do miss that house with the slate shingles, yew shrubs and three gigantic maple trees in front of the house. There was a crabapple tree next to the kitchen and a lilac "bush" in the back yard that was tall enough to reach the second floor bathroom window. Ugh, I'm waxing nostalgic now... LOL

@@OurRestorationNation then I choose larger baths. Then you can get a larger tub in it. As a 6ft tall gall larger tubs are the dream for me. It is something I look for when house shopping, do they have tubs big enough to get knees and boobs in at the same time or can I add it without taking out a wall?

Every time I watch an episode of This Old House they have some kind of security camera everywhere! Because you have just finished with the bathroom house (where you normally walk into these houses and the fireplace mantel is gone) I hope you have security too.

If I were downsizing at 66, I would love a 2/2 but with extra living space? Does that make sense? My boyfriend is a woodworker and a farmer. His garage is amazing. He is a neatnick! I am a crafter and messy. I want my own craft room. I don't want to clean more than two baths...BUT, I would be entirely open to an attached garage/workshop. I told him if he wants more space, he can add a second story to his workshop. I would love a loft...and a log cabin/A frame!
