I follow Cogs Hill farm and they have an Emu named Nugget. He loves being scratched and petted and he will just lay down and let them love on him for a long time. He also loves the kiddy pool full of water to lay down in and play in. I don't remember how old Nugget is but he is so much fun to watch as he is a pet and raised by them since a baby. Nugget loves to race around the acre that he is in. I hope you enjoy your new pets.

From watching Coghill when they first got their emu, it seems that a lot of human interaction in their first few months was key to their emu being very friendly with people. They actually kept it in the daughters room with her for a while & let it roam the house. Have a great day 😊.

Fun facts about emus… 1. What exactly is an emu? Emus belong to a group of flightless running birds known as ratites, the most primitive of the modern bird families. The ratite family includes the kiwi, ostrich, cassowary, and rhea, all birds found only in the Southern Hemisphere. 2. Emus are huge. The emu is the second-largest living bird in the world (the ostrich is the largest). 3. What they lack in the air, they make up for on land. The common emu may not be able to soar, but for such a big bird it sure can run. This flightless bird has small wings relative to the size of its body. Also if you want to find out the sex of the emus and not wait till their feathers grow in, you may be able to do like Lester at Ima Survivor Santuary did with his baby ostrichs with a pin prick blood test. They need just a drop of blood.

Driving from Casper after the Rally in Casper we was amazed how beautiful & green the landscape was the entire way home to Gillette! As I said before, we drove past y'all's place & into town... It was such a long but beautiful drive home! We had no clue until we got home just how much rain we got! I had a package sitting on the doorstep under the porch and it was soaking wet on the outside. Good thing the insides was not! Cute Emus! I had 2 Emu feathers from Australia that a friend got me in the 90's... Somehow they got either put way in a box or lost over time... I hear their eggs are great!

Cog hill family farm has one emu and his name is nugget and was raised in the house until to big but I’m just saying he loves to be loved like part of the family and he just loves attention and good rubs and has his own kiddy pool of water. They just love water and family.

My uncle raised emu for a few years. My advice is to NEVER let them escape. Lead to a terrifying attempted roundup between midnight and 3am. Being surrounded in a pasture in pitch black by birds that can kill you isn’t a fun night when you’re 10 years old.

I was in the only multinational aviation company while in Viet Nam. 135 AHC Motto was the EMUS. & get the bloody job done. The Australians were a great group of guys. Never made sense naming an assault helicopter company after a flightless animal. Heard they Emus can reach 6' in height & taste more like beef then anything else. Great that you finally received some much needed rain. Hopefully you will finally be able to produce some quality hay after the two year drought.

Cog Hill emu, Nugget, is very friendly because he didn’t have other Emus to bond with so bonded with Marycarl. With a pair they will bond with each other.

Forgot to say that the Emu is a native Australian bird. It appears on the Australian coat of arms with the kangaroo. Neither the emu or kangaroo can walk backwards.

It has been a while since I have been able to see you cutting hay. Real happy to hear that the grass is finally growing there. Having to buy hay during this transition time, would have made things that much more difficult.

Cracks me up seeing your Emus. I was landing at a grass strip and flew over a coral full of Emus. I wasn`t expecting to see a bunch of spastic big birds running into each other as I was flying over them. Got a good chuckle out of it.

Mckenzie a couple of other facts about our EMU’s are, they are on the Australian coat of arms along with the kangaroo because both animals can’t walk or run backwards “meaning always moving forward” with grown Emu’s place a bag or blind fold over there eyes when moving them around otherwise good luck trying to get them to do what you want. Also they are a very dumb and inquisitive bird to get them to come to you just do something repetitive and they’ll come over and see what your doing. Warning two things, when they are in season or have young they’ll kick out at you and man oh man it hurts for days, the other is if they get out don’t chase them you’ll never catch them, even running through fences. An Australian singer songwriter John Williamson dose a song call old man emu it’s funny it’s on face book, get mum or dad to check it out first. Finally another thing here in Australia we have Emu races it’s also on KZfaq, it’s so funny. Love your videos, wish we could buy some of your produce but importing to Australia would be difficult.

The emus are so cute I love them yall will have lots of fun with them. Definitely spend lots of time with them out in the yard with the kids playing with them they'll love eating the grass out in the yard and playing out there oh my gosh. Yall will have lots of laughs with their antics while yall have them out in the yard playing and having them chase yall around and all. I watch another channel hidden heights Farm they just got a couple of emus little ones like yall's so they've been taking theirs out in the yard and letting them play also to get them used to them and playing with them and all, it's so fun to watch them play they are little characters when you get them playing and they're used to yall and other human interaction definitely as much as you can get other people to come interact with them because they will be growing fast so the more people that interact with them now they will be used to different people coming up and interacting with them not just yall.
