Nah more like the ratings weren't good enough. This show didn't do as good as the other black shows on NBC which means it wasn't resonating with the audience. This show would have had more success on another network like Fox, The WB or UPN. Unfortunately for this show, The WB and UPN weren't around yet.
@ciarrajohnson38499 ай бұрын
@@blueblur2273 I know they weren’t. I was 9 when this came out. I grew up with cable, so this was part of my introduction to Vivica, Duane, and Morris, back when she was pretty. Lord, watching this, i keep seeing Duane’s son. These people (Tisha included) have my childhood in their Halloween candy👊🏿👊🏿
@seensay21329 ай бұрын
@@blueblur2273 slightly disagree. This was a show I remember watching and going to school realizing my classmates were watching and enjoying too. That post Cosby NBC was a trip though, like you said. Because all the new Black shows at the time including the Malcolm Jamal Warner spinoff were actually doing pretty well as new shows go. But all got cut unceremoniously. Coincidentally kinda funny because shows like Friends debut not long after Out All Night was cut and it wasn’t a ratings hit. But they were given time to grow and find an audience
@blueblur22739 ай бұрын
@@seensay2132 I here what you're saying but it all comes down to a ratings. When Friends debuted, they debuted to solid numbers. In it's 1st season it finished in the top 10. When Out All Night debuted it finished with below average numbers. Same with Here and Now. Both these shows in their 1st season failed to finish in the top 100 which is why they were cancelled. That's why I say Out All Night would have had more success on another network. While it would have been viewed by fewer people they would have had more of a chance to develop and find it's audience due to lesser expectations. A show like In the House was able to extend it's life exactly because of this. When it debuted on NBC it debuted to solid enough numbers to be renewed for a 2nd season. But by the end of the 2nd season they dipped below average numbers and were then cancelled. Then UPN picked it and it was able to last several more years despite not putting anywhere close to the numbers it did on NBC.

Tahj Mowry's character would rather be ratchet than focus on the things that would most likely make him successful. The lessons that Duane Martin's character taught Tahj - those lessons of respect, tidiness, education, and avoiding video games and other things that serve no future benefit in our world in which we must compete for resources in society unless one plans to make a career out of playing video games or other meaningless things - is what all parents should teach their children. By the time we reach the legal age to work, we should have the knowledge and skills to be entrepreneurs opening successful businesses right from the gate. Too many young adults, as I was, are clueless, already heading toward homelessness or destitute, and starting from the beginning at the age of 18 when at 18 we should have at least 10 years of learning and studying a profession. Even if one's profession requires them to go to college or if one wants to learn a new profession as a young adult, at least with the knowledge and skills you have in the profession that you've been studying for the past decade, you have an idea of what you can do to make or earn money or where to go to establish a network that would lead you to earning money while you pursue your education in college.
