Let there be 💡 once those shady hardwood are gone I’ve been watching for awhile and that’s the first I seen of you cutting one down with axe 🪓 love it . Its absolutely amazing how a axe can work as a spare saw if your jammed or out of gas . I love those white and red wedges you have there we finally got those here in Nova Scotia in my local saw shop their way better than the stihl wedges !

I've taken down quite a number of trees with an axe back years ago because we didn't have a chainsaw to cut firewood and money was definitely tight so I'd cut some down and carry what I could and drag the larger piece behind myself like a horse or mule. Hard work for sure! 😂

Hey buddy I wanted to share some info with you. I live and grew up in logging country in Washington state in the great PNW. All through the 70's, 80's and 90's I wore Five Brother made in USA flannel and hickory shirts like most guys that worked or logged in my area. Eventually the company closed up.Then I started buying Carhartt hickory shirts and then they quit making them. I never liked the few brands left that made hickory shirts and always wished Five Brother would start up again. Well I recently discovered Five Brother is open for business with new ownership. I was excited to see they have the old style button up and quarter zip hickory shirts on the web site. Thought you might like to know this if you didn't already. I just ordered a couple and waiting to check them out. Nothing says you work hard more than a quarter zip hickory with cut off frayed sleeves!!

Because I used to get sleepless night sometime. Could you tell us some tricks as a timber when it's too hard after weeks of work, but the work should be finished in time?

I’ve heard of this type of cut referred to as the “cripple cut” basically keep slowly opening and depening the face until it falls…. “Crippling” the structure of the tree. Curious on your thoughts on this technique on heavy leaners using a power saw

I have a technical question: When you set your saws away for longtime storage, do you activate the chain brake to lessen the tension on the spring, or do you keep it in the position it is in when cutting? I probably won't have to cut again until winter, and today it suddenly dawned on me that it might be better if the chain brake is activated so that the spring is loosened. So, what's up and down here? Or does it even matter?
@jirusjirus9322
@jirusjirus9322 19 күн бұрын
I luv it when people think about technical details and ponder them deeply and sometimes get obsessed with the numerous possibilities. I usually cannot answer the questions but looking at things mechanical gives vision to new outcomes that would not be normally seen. Keeping springs loose logically feels right to preserve the metal to last longer. When i was younger i used to loosen the tension of my guitar strings and bring them back up to pitch to play. That got old as i began to play multiple times a day...🎶
@sneakyfox4651
@sneakyfox4651 19 күн бұрын
@@jirusjirus9322 Thanks for the reply. I'm not that experienced in power saws, but I have tinkered with bicycles all my adult life, even a little as a pro in a few shops, so "thinking mechanics" is not unfamiliar to me. I think that I'll let the springs be loose until somebody tells me different. I understand you "laziness" with the guitar, but after all, it's probably much cheaper to buy new guitar strings than to replace the chain brake on a saw.
