Moving out of the cities is very important in times like these. The pandemic, riots, politics, and lawlessness are destroying our way of life. You need to get into the country where you can grow your own provisions and keep your family safe.

Thank you Pete for sharing your thoughts with us!!!! We agree with you!!! I have done the same thing, started a food forest seven years ago and lots of small veggie gardens with tons of flowers for pollination. My 45 year old son told me just yesterday that what we have done on in our little back yard has brought in so many birds and pollinators. It's so alive out there. We have a old well that's not in use. We are thinking about calling a well company to check it out for us. Hoping to do this very soon. We homestead a one fourth acre and it's full Pete. We only have very small walkways, lol! The Great grand kids love it. It's their playground full of snacks, lol. GOD Bless you Pete and your family. Thank you , from south Texas.

You’re talking abt in 2005 Hurricane Ike. I’m from Houston and we moved to a very rural city 5 hours away in West Texas for my husband’s job on 15 acres of raw land. We are 1yr in and so happy and content. We’re getting so much interest from family members still in Houston who want to make the move as well. Thankful and grateful aren’t enough words🙏 stay faithful. I’m glad I found your channel.

Thanks for the great advice Pete. I've lived in the city, the burbs, and the country and the best option is by far the latter. I hate city life as well and we’ll be moving to the country when I retire in 5 years. I plan on homesteading just like you and learning a lot from following your channel. Thank you for providing professional video’s. I bought 9 acres on a private fishing lake that is fully self contained which includes two 30’ x 60’ greenhouses. Everything is solar powered and automated and Carroll County in Tennessee has the best farm land in the nation. It’s also in the top 10 of the US for deer hunting. I share the same values that you do and have been preparing for the battle of Armageddon for 20 years. God Bless you and your family.

Thank you for putting this out there. Fully agree. You mention getting a property with a well but don't see any in current listings in a reasonable price range. From your experience of living in NE Texas, do you know around the depth to hit water when having a company drill a well? Also, can you recommend any honest good companies to do the work? I'm trying to plan as much as I can. Thanks so much!
@petebeasttexashomesteading

I'm not too familiar with NE Texas but the water table will vary depending on what area you're at. But as for me here in central east Texas the water is 100ft down but my well is 300ft deep and the well pump is at 180ft down. Do a google map search over the area you're looking to move to and do a search for (well drilling service) and you should get some in that area. Here it's about $10,000 complete with pump and presser tank.

Just a couple thoughts for you Pete, you can buy wheat kernels stored in cans for 25 years if you can't grow your own. Just have a grinder and you have fresh flour when there is none in the stores to be had. Rice can be stored for 30 years. Corn for cornflour etc... If they are in their whole form and not ground into flour they will last for decades when kept cool and dry. Same with dehydrated and freeze dried fruits, powdered milk, potatoes and so many other items that can be stored when none are available, or your garden fails due to weather or pests and there are no seeds to plant. The LDS church has distribution centers all over the USA and you do not have to be a member to buy from them. They have several in TX too. You can buy online or in person so check the days and times they are open if you are interested. They have monthly deals and other items when shopping in person and not available online. Some people also use the company Thrive as they have good products also, so many companies do this and some are better than others. LDS keep their costs as low as possible so this can help many people. I know you can and dehydrate yourself, but this is long term storage just in case for things you don't or can't grow yourself and won't need right now, sort of good insurance and peace of mind. Here is the link for the LDS center. providentliving.churchofjesuschrist.org/food-storage?lang=eng Also what happens if there is no fuel for your tractor? In a true grid down situation you've got to have a plan B and maybe you already do. Maybe get some goats to eat all that grass and you can have goat milk too and fertilizer. Just a thought as everything is so crazy, and you are right if Trump wins again... they will lose their minds and it will be total lawlessness and destruction. Thank you for your videos and saying it like it is, as hopefully people will see what is happening and can prepare for what is coming.

Then when the “protesters” began to “protest” I thought maybe 45 minutes might be a lot better. Then when the “protesters” attacked the Police Station, I thought an hour might be much better and it is, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I was able to purchase 6 acres and I love it !

After college, I moved to my parent's place in Cypress. It was perfect. I was close enough to Houston for my job, had room for my horses (12!!) and could save up for my perfect place. I bought 18 acres in San Jacinto county in 2006 - completely wooded. I cleared and added a driveway, fencing, electric and a pole 36x48 barn in 2010. Moved up here in 2018. My father moved with me (mom passed in 2016). We are doing pretty well with my now 2 horses and 94 chickens! Hope to add Kiko goats in the next year. But, on topic, I am still have my job in Houston. It's now a 75 mile commute, but my Prius makes that not so expensive. And even more, Covid shutdown has made that even more inexpensive (working from home). I love not having so many people everywhere. I do wish I had a partner. Dad is an immensely appreciated help, but he is not going to be here for the long term. As someone who is starting a homestead, it does bother me a tiny bit that his care might infringe on the animal care, but he does come first, (always). I just hope i can continue to care for the animals too. And can continue after he's gone.

Excellent video and commentary. Thank you. We are lifelong Wyoming folks, living in the Northwest corner where the population density is 4 people per square mile. We raise livestock... mostly Narragansett turkeys and American Bresse chickens. I traveled the U.S. on business for a number of years, visiting most of the stinking ant-hills that we euphemistically call “American cities”. During those years, the best part of any trip was seeing the filthy pit fade in the distance through the rearview mirror. We have no solar except for a small system for charging batteries. If the switch gets turned off, we’ll do what our great grandparents did... light the darkness with oil lamps and heat the house with wood and coal... both of which are in abundance here. I don’t like solar for a couple of reasons. First, every guy I know that has a solar setup is constantly tinkering, fixing, replacing. Secondly, we appreciate a low profile and I do not want our place to be a beacon in an otherwise black night. Then there is the cost of solar, which is by no means insignificant. I’m also a licensed HAM radio operator and a fair shot with pistol and rifle. I don’t see how we are going to get through this worsening crisis and remain one nation. Look at Portland... Chicago... Seattle... Philadelphia... all of California... the northeast corridor. The streets are filled with the mindless products of our failed educational system... the police stand and watch as our history and heritage go up in smoke. In my mind, there are two major causes for the 50-year decline of The Republic. First of all, we allowed our youth to be propagandized by the leftist and/or inept primary school system and two, we ended the draft... and along with it, the requirement for our male young to do their duty and learn what it means to serve. My God... in 1944, American youth stormed the beaches at Normandy... today, our pathetic young “men” can’t even decide whether to sit or stand when they pee. They attack statues which honor the courage and bravery of earlier generations, while they themselves wouldn’t risk a fingernail to protect their sister from being dishonored. We are in for a rough ride. Woe to the city dweller.

I'm in the Houston suburbs and getting closer every day to wanting to leave. I had to drive into the city this past weekend(for the first time in months) and was amazed to see all the tents, prostitutes, and HUGE trash piles(4' high) under the overpasses, and this was in the morning. I've lived in this area for over 20 years and never seen it like this before. We are fortunate enough to have a decent sized lot for suburban living and in an area where we already have chickens and a small garden established at least and I still feel safe enough for now to hang around and keep saving up. Luckily we already have over 100 acres of property in central Texas 100 miles away from any major city with a small house on it. We intend to build a barndo out there but still need at least a couple more years of the big city money to get some passive income going, and also get the infrastructure we want setup with rain catchment, start amending the soil and adding solar. We already have electric and a well(with the worst sulfur smell known to man) so if we had to we could relocate quickly it's an option still. We are looking forward to the day when we get to country living and very happy to be debt free now so if we had to move out quickly the option is there.

Good words of wisdom. Unfortunately most people would think that hooking up your brush hog to the tractor is just too much work, and take away too much time from their TV shows or Facebook. I totally agree with your thoughts here. I'm 4 years on our 6 acres, got everything going similar to you except solar panels. I put a well in by having a 100ft hole drilled, bought and ran everything else. Still ran 5k. Best decision ever. If you have kids, moving to the country can cause issues. My folks moved to the country when I was a baby. When I was in my early twenties I could not find any work in the area, admittedly this was in the middle of a recession, so I had to move to the city. Also I wanted to leave too. I’ve seen this pattern happen in many other families too. However in later life the children might come back to the farm.

Maybe this is part of our nature. Live close to the family as a child. Then want to head off to the bright lights as a teenager and young adult. Then become independent. Then look at how to sustain oneself on a farm in later life, maybe after one's own children if one has them have left. Then stay on the farm for as long as possible. Australia has so far not gone down as far down the road the USA is walking on. However there are some who would love to have a revolution and then start pushing people around for their own good.

I have a Mahindra 2538. It is my first tractor so I don't have much to compare however here is what impressed me: the CRD system doesn't require DEF; as Pete noted, it is heavier especially with the backhoe frame; I was able to get it about $8K cheaper (25% less) than the green brand; it has 3 ranges (L, M, H); it has steering brakes (individual pedals for L/R when desired); the front bucket is larger than most of its competition plus higher weight capacity. Dislikes: shifting ranges (L, M, H) is tough to do and difficult to find the gears--that's about it.

Hey Pete! I live north of Crosby, close to Huffman. It's on the east side of Lake Houston. I was surprised when you talked about jury duty, down town. It's horrible. Wondering if you have a Facebook page with Messenger? We have 33 acres west of Lagrange. My 1980 kubota tractor developed a fist sized hole in the block recently. Would love to chat with you about your Mahindra.

You are spot-on with everything you cite. I agree if Trump wins the left-wing radicals are going to flip out much worse than we have already seen. I'm glad to say our first year's harvest is pretty decent but definitely learning lessons along the way. My late brother was a staunch believer in preparing for these times. It has only been 16 months since he passed but his predictions are happening all around us very rapidly. Thanks for the video.

Agree with you about what's coming but really believe you're pointing in the wrong direction when it comes to what's behind it.

There are people on both sides of politics that are working to destroy our system and way of life to further their agenda.

I did as I do in the garden, I plant seeds. People will read the chapters I mentioned and the Holy Spirit Will open there eyes if they're open to it. I will be talking about Christ more in future videos.
