Join Danny and Jack in this adventure-packed episode as they struggle to fit a new tire to the trusty Steiger for upcoming mining site rehabilitation. Watch the challenges unfold as they wrestle with the tire, fill it with water for added weight, and tackle the finicky tractor startup. But that's not all - a surprise encounter with a camel gang adds a unique twist to their day. Jack swiftly deals with the camels using the Speedline, all while providing a live commentary. Stay tuned for part two as they continue the mining rehab amidst the outback's unexpected interruptions.

Thanks for making these videos, mate. I used to be opposed to hunting and in favour of insanely strict gun control. Since I started getting into hiking and camping around Western Australia, I have come to realise how crucial hunting & culling are and that you guys need the proper tools at hand. Now I sometimes go shooting (just at the local range, I'm far from being a pro) and enjoy watching channels like yours, and I'm pretty embarrassed that I had such uninformed beliefs. We should be making your lives easier, not more difficult, and you deserve a lot of praise for doing your part to help protect our environment. I owe you a pint next time you find yourself in Perth. Cheers buddy.

Danny loves work, he could watch it for hours. I don't know if this is helpful on big tyres but partially inflating the tube before closing the tyre rim helps to prevent anything catching, any twists, overlaps that will rupture when a load is applied.

G’day Jack. Hope you and your family are going great and have a good Christmas. The time I see these videos when you’ve asked questions you’ve already done it. I’ve done thousands of hours in Steiger and every other tractor you can think of, you asked about the key but you’ve already done that. Just remember that back in the 70s and 80s they are like old Holden Utes. If you got a problem with the tube of the tire put a clean tarp on the back of the Ute or ground then blow it up half way and it’ll show you which side of the valve to put on the tire and then let it down and have the valve hole to the top of the rim and then put it all back together exactly as you did then start filling after you’ve blown it up still have the valve to the top when putting the water in and keep putting the hose back on until there’s no more air coming out and just water. We’ve been doing that since Jesus was a boy. Keep ripping into those camels since I can’t. People who complain about feral animal culling just tell them that you’re doing it for the environment and you could remind them that without farmers they would be naked and have no paper to wipe there bums and each time they use a fork it’s because of a farmer somewhere. We have the same problems here so I know what you’re going through, keep up with it and catch you later

Many problems - Prenti is 1200km by road from Perth (i.e. Market). You would need all the equipment (Freezers, cutting room etc) brought in, not to mention the additional fuel to operate them. And more staff. The average amount of meat off a "Fattened" i.e. consuming scarce pasture, camel is about 400kg - these are wild ones, so let's say 350kg. Camel Meat retails for $4.50 to $7.50 a kg. (Less for wholesale, so maybe $2-3/kg) way less than beef. Cartage - minimum economic load for a semi lets say 10 tons in weight - or $20,000 worth of meat - figures that I have from previous research (I was an agribusiness analyst for a while) put cartage at 9c/km/ton I think those were coastal numbers - not deep into the bowels (sorry, jack) of Australia. - but you are really only carting one way, so that's $2200 in shipping before you start. Big chunk of your market will be for Halal, which means specialist butchers, certification etc. Not to mention changing all of the watering protocols and mustering of camels on prenti. If it's for sale/human consumption then there will be medical costs similar to cattle. By comparison, here in south east queensland, there is Summerland camels in the Scenic Rim, (It is adjacent to my brother's farm). Only 45 minutes out of Brisbane, and they don't sell any meat - just milk and related products... ). Which pushes to an export market - That takes the shipping cost sky high. It would cost $5-8000 minimum to get a 20 ton container to the middle east. The rough costs, unpredictability of the product and market, remoteness of location, are already ringing alarm bells for someone who used to assess the viability of agribusinesses for a living. As jack has highlighted - doing anything other than culling them, would cost them money that they don't have, and would be unlikely to get external investment in. It would be expensive to start as a niche market, and most of the economies of scale come into play when it grows past that - in the mean time, it's a gamble that only works if you have very deep pockets.

I was a banker before returning to farming. I came to the conclusion that most analysts and consultants were just that as they were overtly risk averse. The progressive profitable customers focused on solving impossible problems, and capitalised on their achievements. 1, this is not normal camel meat, it’s “Jack out the Back” camel meat - that retails direct for significantly more. 2, as a niche product it has no need for scale; keep it unique..

Prevents dulling of the blade from cutting the hair and also greatly reducing dirt being pushed in. Never had camel, perhaps one day!

I use vice grips oriented at 10:00 o'clock on the edge of the lip of the beadon the rimwheel then i can spoon the bead over by myself , when i air it up, i use a bar to keep the tire bead away from sealing up to give the tube a chance to push as much air that can get trapped between the tube, rim and air cavity, all else fails leav the vice grip on the stem and deflate the tire after you get the beads to seat of course, might take a couple of tries, but tgats how you keep from pinching the tube.

Jack what a great video sir! I am from America so I have not had the opportunity to cull Camel. I do watch a couple channels from Australia and know your country has a lot of evasive animals. I was not aware of the camel issue though until finding your channel. I have some questions and hope you or someone can answer them. First question is with the wild cats, dogs, and pigs how long do one of the carcasses last after a kill? Do you ever use the kill sites as baiting sites for other animals? As I am not totally familiar with your country it’s gun laws are your current weapons the only options, or do you have the ability to possibly build a weapon more suited to your needs? Ie: high round capacity, special optics, reloading…. Sorry to bombard you with so many questions at once! I hope you and your family as well as your station family have an amazing weekend and stay safe. I’m going to go start watching your catalog of videos as I am sure some of my questions can be answered that way! Again, great content and can’t wait for the next hump to drop! Kind Regards, Walter
