Can you talk about running an outboard WOT in the future? When I had my power head replaced on my mercury 4 stroke. The marina told me to its best to run it as close to 6000 RPM which I’ve been doing after I broke it in. Now I have people telling me I’m prematurely wearing out my new power head. I was always taught running it in its max RPM range prevents carbon build up

I’ve always been told, if you use good fuel, you in a fuel injected motor carbon buildup isn’t much of a concern. Also, running an outboard wide open too much isn’t good. Also I’ve always been told closer to 5,500 rpm for max rpm

After owning 3 outboard brands, here’s the answer. Buy a boat, put a brand new Yamaha on it with traditional hydraulic steering and always put non-ethanol in it.

The boat I bought from the USA came with 400lt of fuel and about 40lt of water in the tank. The motor was dead because of the water, glad I didn’t pay a lot for it.

Hey! Are we able to talk about Porta brackets? Also just bought a sunk panga thoughts on cleaning a closed off gas tank?

For sure! Not this next one, but the following podcast we can talk about the Porta Brackets, they are sweet and work great! Also, try and call a pump out company, not sure where you are, but there are companies that will "polish the fuel tank" They suck out all the fuel and run a polish cleaning substance through the tank! That's what you'll want to do, do it sooner than later, that water is in there rusting out that tank :/ so don't leave it empty for too long :/

Hey. What you think about the 2003 Angler 220 center console with a 2003 yamaha HPDI 250?

Just subscribed. For boats 10 years or older, is a corrided tank pretty much guarranteed? If you buy an older used center console, should you expect to have to replace the fuel tank? Replacing a fixed fuel tank from beneath the floor board sounds really drastic and expensive. No sense in repowering an older boat if the fuel tank is old, or am I assume all fuel tanks 15 yrs or older are bad?

Thank you for subscribing! I wouldn't say that though, I would say if you have a fuel tank fail in 10-15 years, there is something else wrong or the tank was defective. Most fuel tanks in a boat will last from 25-40 years without needing to be replaced :) So I'd say once you get over 20 years or so, that is when it needs to start becoming a deciding consideration when looking at a used boat to buy.
