Today, I cover the history of Showbiz Pizza Place & Chuck E. Cheese in Lynchburg, Virginia. Although ‪@michael-armenta‬ has already done a history video on this location, I have new findings which will be shown in this video. Thanks to ‪@colbietrimble‬ for requesting this video.

I’ve confirmed the whereabouts of Lynchburg’s Rolfe. He’s in the hands of a private collector, something I couldn’t confirm since I didn’t have the exact info but I’ve confirmed it now. Just wanted to clarify this info now that I have it.

Ok I live in Lynchburg and can confirm a lot of things that are kinda questionable……..This location was never branded as a Chuck E Cheese but did receive CU there is also a gap in time between Showbiz and Billy Joes Ice Cream. Billy Joes was located on Fort Ave at the time. In the previous mentioned gap of time was the franchisee feuding with Chuck E Cheese so they then branded their location Billy Bobs that’s why he has pictures with that walk around. After Billy Bobs closed about a year to year and a half later the building sat for almost 2 years THEN came Billy Joes. A lot of ppl even around here in Lynchburg claim that it was once a Chuck E Cheese but the Lynchburg location was NEVER a Chuck E Cheese! Showbiz,Billy Bobs, Billy Joes, demolition, hotel on property. The owner was close with Fechter and that’s also how this location got reverted back with a little more ease and attention than maybe some locations would’ve got bc it was kinda somewhat done as a middle finger to CEC Inc.

Correct, I went looking at newspaper articles from around that time and sure enough Billy Bob's Pizza is almost never mentioned anywhere outside of the newspapers I found mentioning it. I plan on doing some sort of update to this history video that will address this issue (since Billy Joe's probably never had the RAE and instead Billy Bob's did) and those new photos I showed are probably of the place when it became a Billy Bob's.

@@ItzaRob I do think that RAE existed at both Billy Bobs and Billy Joe’s I think the animatronics sat in the building unused for two years or so in between the two different businesses. I also can confirm there was indeed an ice cream bar in what used to be the arcade not sure if the games were moved into what used to be the sports room.

The photo at 8:10 is from Circus Pizza in West St.Paul, MN, not VA. W. St. Paul was a former ShowBiz that changed into Circus in late 1986. The giveaway is Dook's circular blue stand instead of his stump. Circus initially changed that show's backdrop to a circus theme, but then changed it back to the forest a few years later after the custom circus props and posters wore out. One thing that remained from the circus re-theming of the stage (besides the grey carpet) was that circular stand Dook was perched upon instead of his stump. Definitely Circus in West St. Paul. You can also see the napkin in the dispenser says "Circus" if you grew up in MN and had their logo burned into your brain.

Interesting. The picture was listed on cheese-e-pedia’s pictures for Lynchburg, and with the way it looked I assumed it was definitely from the Billy Joe era, but this makes sense as well.

Thanks for the kind words! I could certainly try to do that, but it may be difficult seeing as it's difficult to verify some of the info that's spread around about certain aspects of its history.

There used to be a showbiz pizza place back in Va beach but converted into CEC but sadly got 2.0

That location also temporarily got reconverted into a billybobs pizza in the mid 90s but by 1997 it was reconverted back into a Chuck E. Cheese

I have a list that determines what comes next, and it’s determined by who makes their request first. as a result of this, over the course of only a few months, I had a LOT of requests which resulted in me having to stop requests altogether so I could get through some of them and not have too many requests at one time. that being said, I won’t be taking your request for now as I’m not taking history video requests for now.

I have a theory why they stopped being a cec im guessing its because they had a low cu budget with not much money so they could t upgrade so they lost there license or something
