Built this cat tunnel and cat play area in one day. All supplies came from Home Depot and minimal tools required. Bonus. Cats can now enjoy the outdoors in a safe environment and we feel that the interaction with the wildlife around them can only help prolong a healthy long life as well. Cats enjoy the freedom of the tunnels and sanctuary for hours

This is amazing, but I'm not so sure about the declawing. Where I live, in the UK, it's illegal and classed as animal abuse and I think rightfully so, it's not right to remove an animal's claws for any reason, it should be illegal worldwide.

I’m glad you protect your kitties , as long as they are all spayed and neutered saves lives , what state are you in ? I love all that greenery , I’m in NM , I built a court yard for all my rescues and want to build a ramp from my upstairs room to the court yard so they can go down and by pass the rest of the house were the big dogs are .. I just rescued a momma and her kittens , just got momma fixed and soon her kittens when they are ready , they are in our Air conditioned big RV , they are so happy to be loved and fed well , I’ll be adding them to the clan in the house , I’ll have territories for them so they all Live harmoniously and have a safe enclosed courtyard to go in , tried to make it jungle like .. not easy with our climate here , you have that perfect climate for a mini cat jungle ,

Its wonderful that u are clearly trying to do the very best for your cats, & u should be congratulated for that! Pls keep that in mind as I make my next comment in hope yourself & others will reconsider the very sad acceptibility some in USA have (thru lack of knowledge) of declawing cats. I'm sure you're totally unaware that it is illegal in most modern civilized nations because its proven & considered to be a very harmful, cruel & inhumane practice by all veterinarians in these nations. Sadly it seems that USA culture accepts it just like footbinding used to be accepted in China because its become its cultural 'norm' so people assume it must be ok & 'normal' because its done commonly around about them. PLEASE do some reading up about this subject in regards how harmful & stressful this is to every cat. I suggest you read what non-USA vets say because if the vets in USA declaw cats & havent stopped it happening then they too are very ignorant on this matter & have clearly just accepted it also without questioning it. Read why it is illegal in Australia & so many other nations! To yourself & any other readers from USA I'm sure u are unaware of this if U have declawed your cats, but I'm hoping this comment will cause a few more ppl to do the research of unbiased knowledgable experts on this subject & will result in more cats being saved from this unnecessary suffering & lifetime stress. My two cats were shocking at scratching my furniture when they were kittens because I didnt have a cat scratcher at that time, because all seven of my previous cats throughout my life were outdoor cats & never once scratched the furniture because they were relaxed, happy & fulfilled instead of bored & stressed like my 2 latest cats who have to mostly remain indoors (unless outdoors on a harness & leash) because I cannot yet afford a large outdoor enclosure for them to run around in. But when I finally provided a good cat scratching post right next to the sofa where they especially like to scratch it, & I rewarded them for using it, they learned within a week to never scratch my sofa again. (And one of my cats is nicknamed "The Psycho Cat" because he's very highly strung, hyperactive, doesnt care less about being in trouble, & has some serious issues that I've never experienced in a cat b4, so he'd have to be one of the hardest cats to ever have to teach anything to!) Because my 2 indoor cats had already totally destroyed my sofa with their claws, I finally cheaply built a large scratching post 3 days b4 my new sofa arrived. I'd prepared to need to squirt them with water if they went to scratch my new sofa, but after rewarding them the 1st day each time they'd used the new post one cat only tried to scratch the sofa again approx once per day for a couple of days & the other cats only tried about 6 times over the 1st week, which they quickly stopped doing completely after that. I'd say a loud angry "NO" & then I again carried them to the new post & I scratched it with my fingers & then played with them directly in relation to the scratching post by getting hand-held toys they love to chase & I hung & wiggled those toys on & around the post. To catch the toys (pieces of shredded cloth & feathers on elastic string) they had to claw at & reach up the post to access those toys & they associated the post with everything good, so they immediately loved that scratching post & stopped scratching the sofa totally almost immediately though they'd been using the sofa as their scratching post their whole lives until then (over a year, because I'd been too unwell to build one & I couldnt afford to buy one at that time, & my original sofa was already old & stained so I wasnt too worried when I learned that indoor cats scratch excessively at furniture because of boredom on top of their natural NEED to do so, but I was shocked to see how quickly & severely they'd ripped my sofa up in numerous places. I covered my new sofas with blankets when they arrived but I was able to remove the blankets after 2 weeks because they hadnt tried at all to scratch the sofa after the 1st week, & hadnt tried many times in the 1st week. So any & every cat can very quickly learn not to scratch furniture etc without suffering the extreme stress of having been declawed for the rest of their lives. If you've kindly read all of this & been willing to consider that there's possibly truth in what I'm saying & that you are willing to check it out for yourself I'd really appreciate that! God bless you for clearly wanting to do the best for your cats!!!!

It was in the 70,s and 90,s People did this so the cat wouldn't ruin furniture . Now where they have nail caps fancy scratching post ,and people have become more aware of the procedure by actually getting to see the procedure on video thanks to U-Tube and how cruel it really is .Most people dont do this anymore . 20 yrs ago my vet actually ask me if I wanted my cat declawed I would of never done this had I known the full cruel procedure .Most vets dont do it any more but there are still some out there . Just like the doberman and the pit-bull when people have their ears cropped I watched a video its horrifying . But some people still do it . I think we as people are geared towards our wishes not taking in to consideration the pain we cause animals just to satisfy our needs . I had my cat for 19 yrs .Now when my poodles 16 yrs and 19 yrs old pass on .I will definetly get another cat ,but I will never ever dewclaw again .

Declawing is basically cutting the tips of you cats fingers off. This can cause many problems. A big one is the litter can really hurt there paws now and they can't cover there business also. They make claw covers for cat nails. Plz don't declaw cats I don't think you would like it if someone cut the tips off of all your fingers.

It's an amazing yard, however I do not want to allow them to run the neighborhood freely because either they will get killed by a car, or a dog, or will be stolen. It is not a cage...it is called a cat tunnel system that they absolutely love. There are several observatories and gathering points where they can hang out under the trees to enjoy the wildlife. It is very safe for them and they are very well taken care of. But thanks for the yard compliment.

Agreed and you did an amazing job. All these comments about de-clawing.... no one knows the circumstances and just judged you, which is unfair. You were kind enough to give forever homes to these cats. My cat has a blocked in yard (in the desert) and I had to train him to stay in it, HOWEVER, THE SECOND my back is turned he is over the fence and I have to coax him back with treats. I would LOVE him to be outside in an area when I can't be out there watching him. He is a bengal (didn't know when I adopted him) and although he is declawed, he has captured 4 birds and has climbed trees that have no branches for 5 feet! He is all muscle and literally shimmied up with the strength of his body! Whoever did his declaw... well they did a good job because I can play with all his paws and he doesn't care. Either way, we both adopted a cat and that deserves praise, not these angry comments! OH and this goofy cats LOVES big huge dogs and I worry about him being killed as well! HOW TALL & WIDE IS this? We have some big cats. A few are14lbs and one is likely going be about 16lbs when he grows up.. Hopefully he gets adopted but in case he doesn't, we want the tunnels to accommodate him. We wondered how much space they'd need to jog comfortably and turn around. For just walking, they are fine with 8"Wx13"H. but to jog/run, be able to pass one another, and turn around I think we need at least 16" height and 10" width . They can stand upright and turn around that way with less width if there is adequate height. How do you get them out when they don't want to come in even for treats? I figured I'd train the little dogs to flush them out but what do most people do?

What a wonderful job! Keeping my cat in the backyard when I am there is possible too, like you said, but yes, the SECOND we turn our backs.... GONE! It is illegal here and you will be fined if your cat is found in another persons yard. So this is a great option! So WHAT if the cat is declawed.... I grew up in Ohio and that was common practice.... all the cats my gramma and mom had were declawed and were loving and never had behavioral issues but they were always with mom until 10 to 12 weeks.. Out west, kittens are taken from mommy and sibs before 10 to 12 weeks ALL the time and THAT is what causes issues. Lack of training by mom. I never had an issue with biting or peeing until I got kittens out west! Has nothing to do with declawing, sorry people. And no, it is NOT like amputating a finger tip. Look at the anatomy of a cats paw. It would be as if we had a tendon UNDER our nail so we could extend the nail, and that was removed. Not the same. For people to say "you shouldn't own a cat," didn't know WHY a cat had the claws removed. Many cats do just fine without them of course! Just depends on the personality and other factors. The fact that someone took in a cat and it didn't get euthanized.... THAT is to be praised!

A big BOO for declawing the cats. I agree it should be illegal worldwide. It cripples the cat, causes lifelong pain, and leads to serious disability in later years. It's a selfish act as any cat can be trained not to claw furniture. Perhaps they were bored prior to having an outdoor area.

Frances. I have 14 animals and only one of my animals are declawed. Tell me if it’s so inhumane why would vets do it? What’s really inhumane is putting those claw caps on your cats paws. My cat still has his scratching instinct and he doesn’t have claws. He is a perfectly happy cat and the vet said he is perfectly healthy. Maybe don’t have your cats outside if your scared they will get hurt by other cats.

@@ivy2q Ummm most vets aren't okay with it...? It is illegal in most first world countries because it is animal abuse. Obviously your vet is okay with it since they probably did it or condone such behaviour. Did you really do no research before subjecting your "beloved" cat to such a procedure. If you had you would know why it's bad and wouldn't be asking a stranger on the Internet to educate you. When they declaw cats they remove part of the bone, the first joint. This is painful and leads to a change in the way cats walk on their feet which leads to joint and back pain and damage. Honestly there are so many cons, please educate yourself. It also leaves them vulnerable to predators. I don't know what the fuck you mean by saying that if I am afraid my cats will get hurt to not let them go outside. I am not afraid that they will get hurt outside because they can actually defend themselves. I have no idea where you got that from. My cats love playing outside (climbing trees, etc) and don't live a stunted life because their owners aren't cruel enough to put them through unnecessary pain. I sincerely hope for the sake of your other 13 pets that you care enough about them to actually educate yourself and try to raise them with a good and humane approach.

Plus, my cat had to get his claws out for a reason.Stupid. Don’t tell other people how to live there life and take care of there animals. There’s many others who leave animals outside too die, those are the people you can correct. And don’t even say “Oh well how did your cat have to get his claws taken out” because that is not your business. I will post a video on my Chanel of my declawed cat and how happy he is. @@411411zoe "not affected" do you think you could walk with out half your toes? or wipe your ass with half your fingers? It would hurt like hell for a long time hopefully with no phantom pain but after while you'd figure it out just like your cat(s) had too. you just keep telling yourself this over & over maybe you'll feel even better about it in about 8 more yrs

I love your sanctuary. I am hoping those cats being declawed was before you got them as, unless for real medical reasons to benefit the health of the cat it is a cruel practice. Thank goodness in the UK illegal except for those medical reasons. I will never condone anyone declawing for human convenience such as protecting their furniture and I know many do this. Hopefully soon. as in many other countries, the US will make this cruel practice illegal.

I hope you weren’t the one to declaw your cats. Hopefully you rescued them that way. If you did this horrible and cruel surgery then shame on you!

I run a rescue/sanctuary. 4 cats came in declawed and they have all kinds of issues with litter, extra defensive with the other cat's. And think of it. These poor cat's have already gone through a hellish, painful procedure just to then be dumped at the shelter on death row. We shall never adopt them out. This enclosure is horrible. Cat's want to run and jump. This is just a tunnel leading to a cage. Put some effort into it.

Declawing!?! Please tell me the poster of this video didn't indulge or condone this very brutal practice. It's akin to amputation of 1/2 a finger and as a previous commentator (Connor) has noted, it's illegal in the UK and should be the same everywhere.

In the UK the only exceptions if the cat has an illness that requires it for their health. Not for the owner's convenience to protect their furniture. Yes unnecessary declawing is indeed cruel.

De-clawing your cat, cuts of their knuckles, its fairly uncomfortable and painful. Many cat owners who get their cat(s) declawed haven't done their research and know nothing about what the procedure is.

Better then a neighbor killing them, them getting stolen or killed. This is a cat run to keep them safe and it's also better then those who will not let them outside every.

Very clever. Next time show the cats more. What were you whispering and who is Uncle Charlie? Do you close them off at night? I would. Raccoons could get their cooties on them at night.

Don't declaw and just let your cats outside. Ffs. What is wrong with you people? If you have the need to cut off part of your animals paws then don't get that animal for a pet just to suit YOUR needs. Selfish doesn't come close to describing you!
