If you'd like me to send you some i know of a property in north alabama that is infested with them...in the thousands. Homeowner still lives in the house and has never been bitten. Pull beds away from walls, make sure clothing isn't touching the floor, put out some sticky traps, and reduce clutter in closets and you can pretty much live with them with zero issues. They tend to stay along baseboards (they hate being out in the open), they suck at climbing (brass bed frames is a plus), are cannibalistic scavengers (which is why sticky traps work so well), and they tend to only move around a lot at night.

People need to realize there are other recluse spiders, they show it on the map of their habitat. In Cali we get 4 kinds but none of them are the brown recluses, the desert recluse always gets mistaken for one.

Cellar spiders are so funny. They are nervous little guys. Whenever I have to relocate one from inside my house, it cracks me up how they get into their defensive "vibrating" mode.

Map is no longer valid - there has been bites in Ontario Canada in a PARK! My friend almost lost her leg because doctors didn't think we can have them here so she was misdiagnosed for a long time. Only a specialist from the States was able to identify what's going on.

I live in owensboro kentucky and the place I am at right now, just started staying here 5 days ago and I have killed at least 30 inside. This place is in the country and hasn't been lived in for only a year. But 2 days ago I got up at not to kill some mosquitoes that had gotten into the bedroom and I couldn't sleep, I started looking for the mosquitoes and found 7 brown recluse in my bedroom . No joke. This is why I am watching the video 🤣 and have watched others on how to take care of a bite on your own 👍 I opened the door to a metal shed out back when we first got the property. I opened the shed and looked inside and seen so many and big AF , And I shut the door and was like what the😳 Time to spray again I'd say. That red area and their studies don't mean nothing it seem . Had to be at least 300 I'm that 8×8 shed and some the size of half dollars coins u.s

What they called a 'house spider' is in fact a brown widow spider... They obviously had no idea what it was. The brown widow has spread over the southern half of the country in the last 10+ years. It proliferates extremely fast and its venom is apparently as toxic as a black widow's, though it isn't as aggressive.

I wanted to share about how good that Golden Guide is: "..Their Kin" includes sections on ticks, mites, centipedes (including the common-but-creepy 'house centipede'!) and millipedes. ~Sometimes this particular Golden Guide is a harder one to find- which seems odd to me, as it's clearly among the most practical: I actually asked for this for my birthday a few years back, and it did not disappoint! 🕷🕸 *It's a sad day when people are ridiculed for pronouncing words correctly. ("Recluse" is being used as a noun here, guys- the people in the clip got it right.)

Time call an exterminator if they are getting that "friendly"! Seriously though, spiders do bite and if they are getting into your bedding or the other furniture in your house, you really need to do something about them. Spiders are beneficial in that trap and eat other insects such as flies and mosquitoes so be careful about not killing them all.

Do those things go in people's beds? I never saw a spider in my bed and hope I never will. They are usually up in ceiling corners or door frames. Once I found a spider in a web under my sofa! I think all these were just house spiders.

Gotta tell ya, the recluse is not so recluse down here in Tennessee. Got them all over my garage. They run like hell, and after looking at them compared to the funnel web spider, those two do not look enough alike to mistake once you have seen a recluse in person.

Agreed. The issue is that many people have not seen an actual brown recluse before and have no idea what a "violin shape" should look like on the spider. For instance, I initially expected it the be on the abdomen of the spider as with a black widow.

I am pretty sure that I saw one yesterday in my garden. Was weed-wacking around some large rocks. Was trying to wack the grass in between the rocks and suddenly there it was on top of one of the rocks. I checked him out very closely for about 5 minutes and saw the brown mark on the top part of his body. I tried to remember if the wolf had that or the brown recluse since I was reading about them last week but I couldn't remember. But it was solid, NOT opened up with light marks in between, a solid darker brown marking and afterwards I went in and told my son I may have just seen a brown recluse but can't remember who has the fiddle on his neck. One solid brown spider. I had shoo'd him off (OMG!!) b/c I do welcome spiders in the garden and I had to finish my work. But I would swear that was a brown recluse ... and now I am really afraid of my garden. This area where I saw him is secluded (or a mini garden) so part of me wants to go looking for him to catch him to have him looked at. I normally don't wear gloves when gardening and generally, any spiders near will just scamper off while I go about my business in the garden. But now I am really scared. I don't like the feel of gloves when gardening. Is the brown recluse in NW Indiana now or not? I am in Hammond area.

I've been bitten 4 times by a recluse spider to bites were significant and the other to just a bruise . and the other thing about spider or snake bites is each time your bitten your body naturally builds an immunity to the venom meaning your body naturally heals itself without medical intervention

Thought I'd come here to ease my worry concerning the fact that I've been seeing this spider that appeared to be a recluse taking cover from the recent cold in my car door in northern West virginia. Looking at the look-a-likes only make me all the more certain that it was was a recluse, the legs were to thick to be the look-a-like. I've been seeing quite a few of adults in the past 2 weeks.

He is somewhat amiss in saying that most BR bites don't need medical attention. I'm familiar with 3 cases that ended in death.

Idont know if death straight from a recluse is the reason of death..complications are always a good reason but as i have to believe your stating i cant say more. All i have to say is for BR you must know where and when she could appear, clean home and a few readings. In my mother village where i live i show a spider brown in the bath which makes no classic web...(rather could be a tube). I did not panic thinking its a killer recluse so 2 options to kill it or to take it outside using a baox and a paper. I have not identified it but it could be a loxosceles rufiencies (meditereanean brown relcuse) but surely not an american one since they do not exist in south Greee. It could be anything probably a male filistatidae since they do look alike very much. Anyway i gave her the freedom and my life moves on happily

People under the age of 16 and over the age of 60 should probably seek medical attention immediately. Those in between, which I'm assuming would constitute "most", would simply need to watch it and seek medical attention if it didn't improve. He could've clarified that any bite should be taken seriously, I think he is just trying to downplay the hyperbole of fear.

Welp, I never want to get that close to a spider to see what pattern or how many eyes it has. There's this thick dark brown spider in Virginia that's in my house and crawl super fast doesn't climb walls or spin webs & is about 3 inches, I killed about 10 of them since summer ended. Before that I had a house centipede problem, now I don't see them anymore. TBH after seeing these spiders, house centipedes don't seem so bad anymore.

Wolf spider. They're great at killing other pests and mind their own business. I've seen some huge ones, and been near a lot of them, but I've never been bitten by one. Cellar spiders, on the other hand, love to bite lol

actually many sicariidae could be called violin spiders because of that mark on cepholatorax - just like many species of venomous snake genus bothrops are called fer-de-lances... And many sources in internet refer to brown recluse as violin spider...

Yup, just ran into a girl last the other day here in PA that got bit by one. Although many people mistake the funnel weaver/funnel web spider for the brown recluse, they are around the Northeast now along with many other species of bugs and insects that have spread to the Northeast in the past few years.
