This was the last game I played through with my daughter before she passed away. It was an amazing experience. She told me where to go each cycle and we uncovered it together. She was bed ridden but we were able to explore an entire solar system together. Magical!

The greatest game I have ever played, so nice to see it on the Switch. One of very few games that fully utilise the medium to tell a story effectively, so many games just emulate the story beats of movies but Outer Wilds is so beautifully unique in how it conveys it's themes and the emotion it invoked in me is seriously unlike anything else I have experienced. You have to go into this blind, it is probably one of my favourite experiences throughout any medium.

There's simply no other game like Outer Wilds. In an industry that often re-treads the same ground and coasts on trends, this game was an absolute breath of fresh air and quickly rose into my top 5 games of all time. Do not skip this experience. You won't find anything else like it.

@@aFLYER1980don’t play it like a video game. If you are always striving to progress to the next bit, it’s easy to get frustrated. If you play it more like a visit to an art museum, where you’re not rushing to the next painting, but trying to understand the messages each piece is trying to convey, it makes a world of a difference

This game is another exhibit I will use in the "Video games are art" discussion. The narrative is something that can only truly be experienced once, so if you're looking at playing this, AVOID ANYTHING DISCUSSING THE STORY. I did play docked the entire time, but there were very few performance issues I noticed, and nothing that a quick restart of the game didn't fix. It's actually very impressive considering all the background calculations the game is doing for each of the different planets.

I'm definitely getting this game now. I'm a bit concerned about the length of the time loop though. Hope it gives you enough time for exploration so it doesn't feel too repetitive having to go back to the same place from the start multiple times after each other.

IMO, the start of the loop isn't cumbersome. You can do them on auto-pilot while thinking and digesting whatever happened in the previous loop and then you plan out your current loop 😄

I wanted to like this game when I tried to play it a while ago. But, I hate the flying mechanics, and there's just too many bells-and-whistles for me to want to keep going despite how cool the game looks. The log isn't enough to entice me to keep going.

It's just different so it's quite hard to have a grasp if you're used to usual controls. Important things to remember is that match velocity is your best friend, momentum snd gravity is your enemy, autopilot is your friend and worst enemy. You also need to discover something thst interests you otherwise it can really be hard to get into unless you're willing to spend the time to get there.

hi guys, I'm contemplating about buying this game. I can easily buy it now tbh for my switch since I like botw exploration and I want to play a game after I finish botw and many people say you should go blind and this game is so enjoyable. However, I am aware of the graphical limitations of the switch and I'm still saving up for a good gaming laptop, we have pc but I think it can't run this game. So, sorry for asking, coz I want to share my context, should I buy this game for my switch and sacrifice graphics or should I wait like 4-5 months before I play this?
@scod3908
@scod3908 2 ай бұрын
It's nothing like BOTW/TOTK. Would not recommend buying on switch as they downscaled it, but the graphics and frame rate still suck, and it lags + pauses + crashes every few time cycles making starting over even more frustrating
@scod3908
@scod3908 Ай бұрын
After finishing the game: - It crashes a lot, and gets laggy requiring a reset - The joystick control is pretty badly tuned compared to other games on Switch - It feels like a game from 10-15yrs ago, I assume they ported it poorly and just downscaled everything - You don't get the Achievements like in other versions The puzzle solving is addictive but TBH the gameplay is so frustrating I wouldn't have kept playing if people online didn't rave about it I watched someone else finish the game and their immediate response was a perfect summary: "is that it?"

I've heard this from other people, who then played Outer Wilds and had no issues! I think something Outer Wilds does well to keep you from feeling dizzy, is that you always see part of your space helmet. It gives you a grounded point of reference while going through crazy gravity shenanigans.

Is it recommended to play the game with the DLC first? Or play the vanilla version first?
@JazzFlight
@JazzFlight 7 ай бұрын
Speaking in a vague way, the DLC is seamlessly added as another location to visit. You can beat the game and then visit it (which is what I did), or check it out earlier. It's kind of its own thing that doesn't relate to the intricately connected puzzles of the main planets, so I'd dedicate time to it separately. If you need a clue about finding it (or avoiding it), it's tied to the mention of a radio tower. @@tjlnintendo

Recently finished my first playthrough. Opted for the PS5 version after hearing switch performance wasn’t great. After so many comments saying this is a once in a lifetime experience I wanted it to be the best quality possible. You said your about 5 hours in… you could have already stumbled across how to complete it in those 5 hours and be a loop or two from completion but you could also be nowhere near the end. I finished it in around 24 hours but I discovered the ending as probably one of the last things I could have done. Keep going with it. This game truly does live up to the hype. The more you discover, the more you get sucked into the lore of the story and everything that has happened. Lots of great reveals and shocks. 10/10 for me.

Here's a few hints. your computer logs are very, very helpful. Never leave your ship without a suit. If you feel stuck, go back to your roots. The game leads you from one planet to the next contextually, so if you feel lost, go back to where the game "naturally" wants you to explore

Just purchased this and regret it. I find it very confusing and impossible to control the character with a space suit on. There are no instructions and I can make no sense of the screen dials. Nothing great about the graphics, and the fact that it won't even let me save where I got up to means it is unplayable for me. May work for experienced gamers which I am not - hope I can get a refund as wasn't cheap.
