Lyrics:
'Cause the whole world loves it when you don't get down
(Bah bah-da, bah bah bah-da da!)
And the whole world loves it when you make that sound
(Bah bah-da, bah bah bah-da da!)
And the whole world loves it when you're in the news
(Bah bah-da, bah bah bah-da da!)
And the whole world loves it when you sing the blues
(Bah bah-da, bah bah bah-da da!)

Andre is a technically skilled singer. That flattening of the second "along" takes good relative pitch and vocal control. He actively tuned it a bit but it'd take near perfect pitch to hit that flat perfectly from the onset in this key lol. Also I can't say enough how much I love their accents, as a Canadian lol. That Atlanta drawlll, boi

I've always wondered about that. He's not a full half step down. Which made me think it wasn't done on purpose. Did he say it was intentional? Not to mention he's not just flat on that last note. He begins going flat on the note second to last.

Andre 3000 had one of the greatest verses of all time on this song. Think of all the gems he dropped. His insight into the human psyche is incredible. I think about the line about the airport layoffs almost everyday. The social awareness and how he waxes philosophical about people concealing their true selves even without shades. It saddens me that we will never be blessed with another Outkast album.

You know what, I didn't respond but let me just say this. Aesthetics in music/art featured in every generation changes slightly or greatly. This piece of Art isn't replicable. The end. Something different or in a even greater caliber can and will be done. I don't get why people are so sarcastic. I am stating what I feel. Will there ever be videos and songs you seen made by Michael Jackson again? No, it will be something else (unless they are seriously doing a cover/tribute). Gosh.

It brings me to tears reminiscing and reliving the genius of outkast. They were my favorite artists as a teenager; I’m also from Atlanta. They blew my mind then, but as a mature adult, I’m flabbergasted. Their music and creativity even more sophisticated than I understood, their artistry even more bold, courageous, and profound than I ever realized. I literally feel so honored to have grown up in their time; to have made so many memories in my youth-the most raw years of your life-to the soundtrack of Outkast. These are tears of appreciation and deep gratitude. I didn’t know you could feel such gratitude towards music, expression but I do. They hold a piece of the original me. I love you, Outkast. 😭

Great question…and I have also wondered why?? This is what I believe my reason is: I think it’s the striking visuals of 1930s era black circus performers mixed with a largely white audience …mildly amused by our superhuman feats. Then, add the historical context of the oppression and atrocities black folks suffered almost daily during this period of US history -and despite this, our indomitable spirit was NEVER broken. That’s what I get when I see Killer Mike lifting that car-even now, it moves me just looking at it. Maybe a reach, maybe not?? I guess this what makes it true art-it makes you think & reflect.

Interesting fact a lot of you may not know: Killer Mike almost didn't get a record deal because of his name. Yes, the "Killer" part. It has been a popular word in rapper stage names, but record labels usually disagree with it. This is the same thing that made Ghostface Killer became Ghostface Killah just a few years earlier. Why "Killah" seems friendlier to the execs than "Killer", I don't know. But Killer Mike wouldn't budge on his name because he says he earned it after blowing out 5 or 6 other rappers in a freestyle competition one night and wore the name like a badge of honor.

Fuck yeah. You go Outkast. "And the whole world loves it when you make that sound" Music has changed over the years. It's just different now, not sayin' it's bad, just different. I miss the old rap and hip hop....from and old ass 70's baby!
@joshriver75
@joshriver75 8 жыл бұрын
You said best yourself! But what we really "miss" is the "time". A particular music/song takes us back to that "time". I think people should hear music like seeing a picture. Its good the we can still find joy in the genuine artistry of new while being able to fondly reminisce on the old as often as we like. I think Outkast is exceptional for the way they progressed artisically while never selling out. However...I never get tired of 1994 & 1996

+Eric Casarez There is still similar songs coming out its hard when it comes to the older vibes and sounds, you have to really search for it but its still around try guys like "Childish Gambino" "Chance the Rapper"...
