But wouldnt it be frustrating if you don't know where to go and run into a dead end? Because the way its shown, the chase ends when you enter the classroom with the hangman picture right? On a first playthrough on this version, wouldn't survivabilty depend on blind luck?

The library serves that purpose on a blind playthrough already (for me at least, pick your poison I guess :/) thank you very much. Although I gotta admit, it makes more sense for the chase not to end in the toilets cuz its the final encounter with gorbatjov where you can die and it would make him more treathening.

@@theweeknd970_4 the game felt incomplete when i played to be honest. Even though it was scary, the only time I was truly terrified was the school scenes. Any other time was actually pretty manageable, these prepatch chases on the other hand makes it look like a new game entirely

It's bc is really incomplete, originally Marta and Sullivan would have more scenes and screen time (interestingly according to some documents and cut audio he and Marta were in a almost romantic relationship), Nick and Laird would have more character development together with more voice lines, Val originally was going to be killed by Marta, the Mines section were much larger in the beta and so on. Don't get me wrong, Outlast 2 is a really great game, but received a huge content cut in the final version.

Originally the scene where Loutermilch told you "go home and pray" and shuts the door in your face you could actually hear Jessica getting raped if you stood there long enough. The audio contains Loutermilch pleasuring himself and Jessica heavily breathing. Yeah... And do you know the most chilling fact about this? It was cut literally last minute. It was so close to being in the final game. One of the devs said they didn't cut it because they were afraid of the controversy, but because they decided to keep it implied. Now imagine if they didn't feel that way...

I played Outlast 2 at the release date and I was so scared to play this and I remember these chases. When I played it years later I thought I had a mandela effect because I couldn't forget the chase in the church or the heretics' chases... or even the one with Father Louthermilch (i think thats the name??)... Bruh those scene were so good and I got so scared the first time now that I found this video I realized it wasn't imagination but reality... and that reality was better

Reminds me the removal of QTEs from the first game, for some reason they keep butchering their games and removing the gameplay from them.

That's because they keep listening to kids complaining how outlast games are a "chase simulator". Yeah well no shit, thats the whole point of the game. I do agree that these chases were difficult, but some people including me liked the challenge and it was unfair from them to strip it away from us. The solution to keep everyone happy is to return these chases but keep them only for Nightmare and Insane modes

I think people should flood red barrel's inbox with requests to put these back in for the nightmare and insane difficulties. Especially the chase at 5:22 and all the ones including the heretics. It's sad how developers don't cater for both sides, it's always one has to lose out over the other. I just don't get it. Ps. I only played this game years after it came out and had no idea I was missing out on so much.

Honestly it's understandable why they removed it since there wasn't any room for error on this part. Once you got to the sliding door you were guaranteed to almost immediately be hit.

It’s bc these chases basically have to be run perfectly. I’ve platinumed the game after the patch but to get a perfect run taken away an hour in for the sake of a 1 second slip up is draconian.

Keep in mind that these chases were eliminated mainly for the insane mode, which even without these chases is still a horrible challenge, what they asked to do is eliminate them from the insane mode and leave them in other difficulties, but since the insane mode is the Same as nightmare mode, it only changes what there are no saves.

Anyway, I found a way to revert the old patch using the steam console but I want the developers to understand what mistake they made and return it to how it was

Tbh, Outlast 2 had way too many chase sequences. So much so that the novelty of it wore off for me. It didn't feel nearly as thrilling for me anymore because every 5 minutes there was an enemy chasing my arse. So I am kind of glad they reduced the amount of it.

Damn and I just finished replaying Outlast 2. I had no idea it was cut and would have loved to use this mod for a new experience for my second play. I completed the game when it got released, think it was late april 2017. Actually much harder than the first one. Sad they deleted some chases! April 2017 was the real Outlast 2 experience

5:23 another reason why this chase was removed because many people activated the check point when they weren’t supposed to like what happened to markiplier (idk the spelling of his name) which could’ve easily patched but the removed it this is one of the best chases in the game it would’ve scared a lot of people and I mean a lot but it got removed sadly 0:58 this chase is the most weirdest removal out of them all one could argue that it’s because directly after that there is another villager chase / stealth part and directly into a marta chase and Mabye another reason is people said "they didn’t have enough time to process what the saw" which I’d say they could’ve just paused the game and it literally makes no sense to remove it because how would they know that he went into the corn meanwhile in the chase they knew where he went like they yelled 2:37 this was removed of how hard it is (I think) because their aim is literally on point and it’s so hard to run from them without getting hit at least once and it made their positioning and their where bouts make sense it doesn’t make sense that they magically appeared infront of the lake/ the puddle of water it really didn’t make that much sense deleting it 4:08 this one made the least sense I mean they dropped behind you why wouldn’t they chase you it really didn’t make sense that they deleted this I mean some people complained that the heretic chases were too much and too long all compacted into a small margine of time but that actually made sense your nearing the end it is supposed to be more stressful and intense than all other parts of the game it’s literally the climax the blood rain, the heretics, the music it would’ve made sense that it’s so intense and a lot of chases but they sadly deleted it 6:45 this one made most sense since there was literally no way a new player would’ve dogged those attacks they still have the same energy and feeling both of them are pretty scary and intense 7:46 this one made the least sense I mean why the heck did they disappear when they were just chasing you and why was the guy above not attacking and why the heck was there chase music when no one was chasing the chase was so good it was so intense even people who weren’t scared from the game at this point got scared when Blake started hyperventilating when they were right behind you and when they appeared in front of you and at every angle when reaching the elevator 9:29 this one didn’t have that much difference for the gameplay but I still prefer the old one 10:13 this one was really funny than scary made sense they removed it 😂 But it still was important to the game I personally think removing chases was dumb move by red barrels they should’ve kept them for every other difficulty other than story mode because people who play story mode are typically the ones who get lost and always get stuck on stages but other wise there is no proper point for removing those chases

if they ever patched this back in without me realizing starting a new run of outlast 2 it would make me actually scared of horror games again. the entire outlast series is like my comfort game so at this point i've memorized the safe areas that i can run around in and when enemies spawn and to have that broken would feel like playing it for the first time again. this makes me hope outlast 3 has random enemy encounters that differ from each playthrough that would be scary as fuck

I just replayed recently and was thinking at a number of these moments, such as the first one and the one in the mill with Heretics, that there probably should've been a chase in these sections. But I don't have an issue with some downtime in the game, it depends on how of that would've remained with these chases still in.

Yea the climbing the tree part with nick and laird is based on pure luck. Sometimes you can make it up but 99% of the time they shoot me right away. The gate is locked so they gltich on it then instantly kill you after you climb the tree. Is it fixable or which part of the code is to at so I can remove it because it’s soo annoying

In the cut part where U have to hide in the grass from Nick and Laird, the gate where Nick says out of my way was opened in the initial release. In the restored version it is closed. Could this be fixed?

I heard somewhere that players complained that some were too hard, or that there were too many chases in it. I could accept removing the one when Blake leaves the church, but I think they should’ve left in the one where he leaves the bathroom stall and Father Loutermilch chases him again. There’s also a removed scene where Marta tries to grab you from getting over a fence that I think should’ve been left in.
