Thank you for sharing this. Dave. I like Lucid cars myself and I own a Model S. There are plenty nice EVs out there and coming, but as you have described in this video just how far ahead Tesla is amongst the others. Tesla has its quirks and imperfections, but they do think more about the peoples use when they make designs. I just wish Tesla would add Waze and Pandora to the system.

Even as I own a Y, live in Calif, I still occasionally have range anxiety. E.g. return home from Santa Barbara, we found out Hw1 was closed. Wasted 75 mile of 🔋 range to backtrack. Another time, pull in Stockton/Hwy99 SuperCharger, it was full. Imagine what it'd be like in busy holidays as Teslas multiply like rabbits. So CCS issues by itself will cause Lucid to fail. What is an expensive car that's no good for road trips?

That is 1 thing I tip my hat to Tesla for...their emphasis on software and how everything works pretty well together. Despite the predictable howling from the Lucid fanboys, Dave’s exactly right. My 8 year old MS has a better UI than my 23 Lucid Touring. I’m very disappointed in Lucid so far, and very concerned about their future. And, my concern has nothing to do with the charging infrastructure. Lucid makes a beautiful car that oozes luxury and advanced architecture, but is compromised by poorly designed electronics and clunky interfaces.

Not in the Cape Coral / Fort Myers area they're not. EVs are for locals who charge at home. If you're on the road and passing through ft myers / cape coral good luck finding a public supercharger to conveniently top up at. That's where he's filming at. When I thought about renting a Tesla and checked on the charging infrastructure there it totally sucked. I feel sorry for those who fly in and rent a Tesla without checking ahead on the charging situation first. ICE FTW if you're going to be visiting Cape Coral. The only Tesla Supercharger in Cape Coral is located at the downtown Marriott and it's for the exclusive use of Hotel guests. There is one of them. Check with the front desk to use it.

Dave I received my Lucid last May. I agree with some of your comments. Although on my car the reaction time for the passenger function changing the seat is much faster. Also My slow driving is very smooth maybe some things have changed. Except for one quirk where my volume got stock last week the software seems to be faster. The charging network is not good. If you do not mind charging at home there are no issues but this is a big problem for all EV's not on the Tesla network. Lastly I agree on the Dream Drive Pro. One of my employees bought a model three and the software is really nice. I was hoping when I received my car as I ordered a Stealth Model Air Touring that the software for the Dream Drive Pro would wow me. Honestly It is one of my biggest issue. Lastly one thing I am surprised that was not brought up and maybe it is me as I use the key. Sometimes my key does not work and i will sit outside the car and have to open the car with my phone. I tried to setup my phones bluetooth as a key but I cannot get it to work. If they work some of these things out I believe it is a really nice car. I love how it looks how it drives and for the most part am a happy with it but they need to work on the software.

Definitely they would improve over the time with software updates. Even Tesla faced a lot of issues in their earlier stages. Their enhanced autopilot and Fsd are crazy when they were released. Similar way Lucid would improve these things over the time. But CCS charger network is way scary than all...

Dave, thanks for posting the feedback. I hope that Lucid Engineers take it seriously. There's nothing better than live demonstration of the concerns, especially when it comes with the intentions of improving the experience. I had the Model 3 (as well), and agree that the slow driving (traffic) was pretty smooth, so it should definitely be as smooth or smoother in the Lucid. Providing information such as the name of the song, or pet mode (temp inside the vehicle), are very valid and simple points. I had suggested to Tesla and Elon, that they consider allowing feedback from drivers after a vehicle initiated hard brake event to determine if it was legitimate or not... because my Model 3 had slammed on the brakes on the highway due to a falling leaf (it was a scary event). That instant feedback from the Driver along with the information captured by the vehicle should allow for useful datapoints for the Engineers involved in the Self-driving and safety features of the vehicle. It seems like you want to help us get better vehicles and I appreciate your efforts. Keep it up!

All true. But, when I drive every Tesla model, they are not nearly as comfortable to drive and the idea that I would have to hunt through screens for a virtual control to control the direction the air is blowing from the vents is a non-starter. I won't, not now, not ever. The BMW i5 and i7 probably do all of this better, but they lack the range and usable space. For now, Lucid is the best available, but they better get on it or they'll be left behind pretty quickly.

But for normal use (what I think of as normal anyway) of road tripping of 1 - 3 road trips a year and the rest daily driving with charging available at home, I couldnt see my way to changing up bc of a few issues with CCS charging. And yes, I've only had less than a handful in about 3 years. With the whole NACS about to become (it really already has) the standard anyway and an adapter is all that'll be needed for use of the SC network next year, I'm good. I didn't know Lucid is missing so many software functionalities that Tesla has, considering they have a lot of former Tesla engineers. What is really strange is the slow driver profile change. It's either as slow or almost as slow as the Audi fat etron's profile change, which could be measured with a sundial. Something that's almost instantaneous in even the cheapest Tesla should really be the same in a Lucid. I was considering BMW electrics but with their insistence to stay with CCS and partner with "like-minded" companies and build their own network, BMW was removed as an EV candidate. I own a BMW, so I have nothing against the Brand, outside of their nutty pricing. If Tesla had lowered the price of their product line, and in particular the "S" about 2 weeks before they actually did, a Tesla "S" would be sitting in my garage instead of a BMW. I think I'll go with the company that can, by OTA updates, unlock an additional 100HP

Much frustration is rooted in high expectations of technology. Folks would be much happier if we depended on simpler things. Manual seats, buttons, knobs, air louvers and such. Automating everything and activating everything on a screen is just setting us up for disappointment.

I don't get it. You are selling the Lucid because of all of these supposedly issues yet you said you may give the new Lucid Suv a look when it comes out? Wouldn't you run into the same issues that you already hate to begin with? Sounds like you should stick with the tried and true Tesla Model 3 or get a new Model S for more range.

You can play music but only for a a short period there is a time limit not sure how many seconds it is, I'd stick to less than 10sec if possible. KZfaqr in the UK I follow his entire intro is licensed music but doesn't play it for longer than the time period for each song he has in his intro so doesn't get tagged by copyright. That charging issue on 800v is Tesla issue not the car as it happens to Ioniq 5/6, Kia EV6 as well in Europe on Superchargers as well, therefore I agree with Lucid and Hyundai/Kia same issue with any 800v car as has been shown by people using SC on their 800v cars in Europe.

Interesting he's in Fort Myers. Across the river in Cape Coral there's all of 1 Tesla Supercharger available, not really, unless you're a guest of the Marriott hotel it's located at. See the front desk to use it. The Tesla supercharging options in Fort Myers while better didn't look great either. Was thinking about renting a Hertz Tesla but yeah screw that. Really surprised Cape Coral a city of nearly a quarter-million people had one supercharger and it's for the exclusive use of guests of the hotel. You'll see quite a few EVs on the road too, they're all locals who charge at home. If you're a visitor who's traveling and are looking for a Supercharger in Cape Coral you are boned!

Good video. Sorry about your experience with the CCS networks. I occasionally have had an issue but no more than when stuck in line at Costco for petrol for my Lexus.
@ButterfatFarms
@ButterfatFarms 10 ай бұрын
But here's the thing. You don't have to wait in line at Costco to fuel up your Lexus. There's lots of other places you could pull directly up to the pump and be on your way in a matter of minutes. The charging options in the Fort Myers Cape Coral area he's at just sucks. Was going to rent a Hertz Tesla but once I looked at the public charging situation there yeah screw that clusterfuk.

@@ButterfatFarms You never fill up your ICE car (gas or diesel) and have to wait 20 minutes? That's normal. The gas stations are always full, with lines - unless you go at 2:00am. I just filled up my 1999 Lexus last week and had to wait for three people at an Arco. All gas stations have lines.
@ButterfatFarms
@ButterfatFarms 10 ай бұрын
Actually no, we don't need to do that in the 8th largest city in Florida that's a nearly a quarter million in population. I pull straight up to the pump. There's lots of them and there's always one that's free. The last time I waited in line for gas it was for hours in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Ian which was a cat 5 hurricane that did extensive damage. Like seriously I come up on a gas station and all the pumps are full, i'm not waiting in line I'm driving down the street to the next gas station that's got pumps available. I just pulled into a racetrack to grab a few things, there are 10 double-sided pumps for a total of 20 available. You might pull into an older Circle K that has two pumps and can serve 4 people but there's plenty of others that have more or places like RaceTrac or Wawa that have a lot of them. If you got to wait to fill up as a matter of routine that sucks.

I am so pleased my Lucid was returned in January. Like Dave, I hated the phone charger and only one worked so wife and I bickered on who gets it. About a foot shorter than Dave, I need easy entry & exit, and not sure if they finally added it. When the radio was playing, GPS instructions were fixed at the same volume so you can’t hear them. Agree with Dave that you want Waze on one display while other display shows route to DC Fast charger. Opening the charger door outside vehicle was a hit or miss operation. At $155K plus another $10K sales tax, it simply too much money to spend for all these quirks. While not perfect, my EQS 580 is so much better than Lucid. Adaptive cruise control with lane centering and automatic lane changing is outstanding. I love rear wheel steering, but some days miss the frunk and dislike nuisance start/stop button. Hey Dave, I could send you a really cute dog mode sign for the dashboard in case your next EV isn’t a Tesla. First world problems.

@@vickykennel7414 A shame you can't accept criticism of an overpriced EV where you hit head on roof when exiting vehicle, impossible to hear GPS instructions because same volume as entertainment system, charging door takes 4 pushes to open, lousy phone charger, only way to send voice commands is via invasive Amazon Alexa. No one wants Amazon Alexa to listening to private conversations in their vehicle. Other than these quirks and high price, it's a good car and maybe ready for prime time in a year or two.
