Fr, man literally made it worse, homie made it $300 more expensive and all he got was an extra 4 buttons, 1 extra TB of storage, and lowered the thermal performance. Pretty sure he's just a shill getting paid for traffic to that "view products" tab on his videos, I might just start making videos exposing the absolute worthlessness of these "tips and tricks" that are really just buying stuff.

It will just trap dust from the bottom and from the top you just have to clean the dust filter, instead of cleaning the interior.

@@Fetidaf They very well could. I have one of Lian Li's best airflow PC cases. Just removing the single dust cover on the top and temperatures drop 10°C. The restrict airflow a lot more than people treat them like they do. Those covers block more than half the space air molecules could have gone through prior. No higher quality is going to change that

@@FetidafConsumer electronics are not over-engineered. They don't give them far better airflow than they need. At low use, temperatures will be low and it won't matter, but its curves will be off and the RPM it thinks it needs won't draw enough air anymore. It will heat up quicker, and once it's hot these issues will be even more exaggerated. It's just a bad idea unless you're building your own PC and have direct control over the cooling system. Even then I'd pass on dust covers, but to each their own.

as an elite series 2 owner since launch its my favorite controller besides the fact the face buttons and bumpers randomly decide to be finicky from time to time. sometimes it needs to be pressed hard as hell other times it just fixes itself for a a while. sent it in 3 times and just gave up after that

I would prefer to use a dust cover (without holes) on top when it's switched off, that way you're guaranteed not to get any dust inside. When it's on, simply remove it so you won't have the risk of overheating, and the fan should naturally blow away any dust that tries to settle in.

@@gravestoner2488 these units are carefuly simulated without add-ons and then a thermal design solution is made. messing with even the intake could result in components not getting enough throughput due to the stock fans not having enough static pressure. Like you said, intake filters aren't bad but this isn't a PC case with 5 fans, it's a tiny computer that is very specifically cooled.

@@brendanjames7551 yes actually, 2 filters obviously reduce airflow, no argument there. Minute amount but an amount. The important part is one side is intake, the rest is exhaust. If you remove dust bigger than a certain size on the way in, you would need a higher quality filter on the way out to catch anything with it. Then what? Reduce airflow even more to keep more dust inside? If theres dust going through the exhaust, you want it to leave lol, not keep it inside. Simple to understand.

I recently got the Xbox series S and tried to hook up my hard drive from my regular Xbox one to the series s and literally after hours of installing games to the hard drive, I basically get a notification telling me I can’t play games off of last GEN hard drives so then I had to move all the games back from my hard drive to the regular Xbox series S storage Microsoft are forcing you to buy the new expansion cart that literally cost like $200. It’s ridiculous

The top fan pulls air from the bottom and out the top. (Top exhaust) By putting a filter on the top, the only thing you accomplish is restricting airflow. You only need a filter on the intake…..which is at the bottom.

Don't use dust covers you'll overheat your console! The xboxs design is perfect there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. Maybe out a skin on it that's about it. If you want to keep up with dust get a can of air or an electric duster (way better) and use it a couple times a week and keep the console in a well ventilated area.

The giant vent at the top is for exhaust so air exits that way you’d only need dust filters were air comes in to reduce dust :)

I regularly clean my consoles. The Series X definitely sucks in a lot of dust (we have ragdoll cats and the console on the floor). It's a super easy and (to me) satisfying process with the right tools.

Those things do get dusty, but do not ever cover the vents in any way. Had a laser thermometer pointed directly at the fan on top. I ran Forza Horizon 4 (winter season blizzard) at max settings for 1 hour. Thing hit over 182F at the exhaust! So the SoC was probably way hotter. After getting a charging dock with a fan to push air into the back intake and cleaning the thing out (yes it was very dusty at the time) it dropped to 157F. Point is, Clean it regularly, add cooling where needed if needed, Never cover its vents.

@@rainemiller3567 it depends on what resolution you are playing at also. Im running 4k60 with HDR. It can make it sweat. This was also before a few optimizations to the game were made to make it run easier so it was struggling at the time. Thing runs great now at a max 142F under the heaviest of my games.

@@elidawson6375 apparently it says 512 on the box, but the system itself takes up about 150gb, leaving you with 364gb for games and stuff. Which is what I meant when I said 300

⁠@@elidawson6375you can only use the expansion cards for next gen games which only go up to 2tb an external hdd or ssd would only download current gen games

The top dust cover doesn't do anything, that giant fan acts as exhaust so by putting a filter there you're effectively trapping the dust that made it past the intake filter in the console
