Yeah but it’s not that simple. You need to spend money on tools and spend time learning to do this shit. Most people do t have that time or money to buy tools and material and or a place to make it
@saxyrep13 жыл бұрын
@@DjSuperK I've built my own desk more or less modeled after 2000$ high end producer desks last week. I had some tools but I'd say between the screws, paint, solid wood, mine is all pine, and machines you can buy, borrow or rent with 300$ to 500$, you're good to go. It's not that hard. I was just dedicated and careful. Edit : I'm clumsy af and the furthest thing from an expert wood-worker. It was my 1st time doing sthg like that ever. I'm just lucky to have had enough space to do it.

The Output Desk is still an amazing contender and perfect solution for many. To me it gives you $2,000-$3,000 worth of studio space for a fraction of that. For space issues, I highly recommend printing or writing down all the specs, marking them off in your space with painters tape and getting a strong visual of this working in your home.

Great practical review of one of the better desks. I based by own modest design on this one. The plans are "Open Source". Just on that basis, this makes the business worth supporting if and when you have the means.
@DanzoSrife Жыл бұрын
It's soo interesting! You're the first person with radical views on the output desk. Everyone else, including myself, views their weaknesses as strengths, which would be perfect for me. But the fact that you put your opinion out there, means there must be others like you. For other producer friends, we like our screen there to see our midi input and plugins for piano or synth. And also I don't have another desk to place my keyboard on and having an under space actually is far more space-saving (so my other friends also agree) . Anyways, have a good one!

I love it . The trouble is the more your space needs expand or contract, i suppose the mentality is . Everything needs and must fit. In reality it doesn't you just end up having to mod stuff as you did to skip being forced to completely upgrade.

I am finally ready to make the jump to this desk. I’ve always been dawless to the point that I think it’s a detractor, and part of that is because I don’t have rack space in front of me to put some expansion I/O mainly to process sounds once I record into DAW. Keyboard tray is also huge plus, frees so much desk space. I debated for a while but I think I’ll bite the bullet
@bodhibeats82573 жыл бұрын
It’s a beautiful desk. I’ve listed after it myself, but I’m also an apartment dweller and it’s just not practical. I would love, love, love if Output would consider making a small version (say, in the 47” wide neighborhood instead of the 60”). Thanks for the review and all that you do! Love the channel!

I had the same problem with the separators not sinking all the way into the grooves of the top piece for your monitors. Unlike the instructions, I connected the two separators to the upside down top, flipped it over and inserted that assembly of three pieces into the table piece.

One day I'll have enough space to spread all my gear out permanently...! Looks like a good workspace solution but that price tag! You could buy some great music kit with that money lol. Great honest review though to be fair. Glad to have discovered your channel, all the best, Andy
@jszack3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the vid! Like you, I bought this (same finish) shortly after it came out and have really enjoyed it as the centerpiece of my studio. I do use the top shelf for monitors and an iMac, and a second monitor vertically mounted above the iMac screen. Also am using the 9u of space as follows: left side (Focusrite Clarett 8Pre, Focusrite Claret OctoPre, Samson S-Patch patchbay); center (Warm Audio TB-12 Tone Beast Preamp; iConnectivity Mio10 MIDI interface); right (1x Furman PL-PLUS DMC Power supply/conditioner; Musicians Gear MG900SC Power supply/conditioner). Because my desk is backed up to a wall/window, the patch bay and MIDI interface is really helpful because I don't have easy access to the back of the desk. Racking power and interface is also pretty convenient, and those are all connected to other things in the studio. My biggest pet peeve about the desk is that the keyboard tray has those really pointy corners in the center cutout, and I'm constantly banging my knees on them, which is really painful.

That's the problem a lot of us have. When you have a number of things, trying to get the perfect thing and put it in a place where it will stay...cause people like to move things after a period of time. Crazy as it sounds I was just as happy on my mv when I had it on a big box. It mean I could get close and it felt natural. And it was litterally a box. So sometimes (especially when size is an issue) we have to improvise and maybe it will never be perfect and i'm not going to lie that sucks lol.

Keyboard off to the side sucks big time because you lose workflow speed moving back and forth to the desk. Trays are almost mandatory assuming you use you keyboard fairly frequently.

Here's another comment lol, I move my stuff around a lot too. I started on drums and used to always have a new set up, one thing I live about the drums. It's carried over to producing. What I like about it is it usually clears out my energy and provides a freshness to my approach. And of course sometimes it's by necessity too if I'm in a shared space lol - speaking of drums, no one ever lets the drummer have enough space! Hahaha!

Nice video Jade. I was looking for a proper desk for my small apartment and I found something similar to what you have, a bit smaller, but I have the same problem with the keyboard tray and my System 8 is going to be too tight. Would you mind explaining a bit how you expanded the space? I was thinking about doing something like that, but not sure how to do it, except for making new holes so I can have more space between the keyboard's controllers and the desk. Cheers!
