I was riding on Pelican Butte and had to outrun an avalanche. I'm yelling and excited down at the bottom of the hill because I lived through it not because I purposely started it. Stay safe out there and keep situational awareness!!!

In 2019 we dug out someone on Vail Pass in CO who made a decision like this and didn't outrun it. It took us about 20 minute to unbury him, he was stupid lucky that his head (only) was above the snow. It took us another 30-40 min to get his sled out. The idiot didn't have a beacon/any avalanche gear, would have been a body recovery if his head wasn't above snow.

My right leg was sharply bent behind my back almost to my neck I'm glad they got to me in time. I couldn't move a muscle in my whole body except a free hand.
