On 3/12/24 at 1858hrs Albuquerque Fire Rescue was dispatched to 4300 Lomas NE for an outside fire in the alley. Upon Engine 11’s arrival they found that an outside fire had extended into the interior of a strip mall. Engine 11 called for a full first Alarm dispatch for a working structure fire and began to attack the fire. 12 more AFR units were dispatched and ultimately the fire was brought under control within 23 minutes.
Fire damage to the structure was contained to the back of one store with smoke damage in neighboring stores. Crews were able to prevent fire from extending throughout the strip mall. No injuries of civilians or firefighters reported. AFR Fire Investigators were dispatched to determine the cause and origin of the fire. A cause has not been determined.
