yep. seen in many good actors already : just by thinking of that character they become " it" , just for a split second they just cannot control slipping back into the movie. their face, behaviour, tone of voice, everything changes. truely impressive and kindof scary

Is it just me, or didn't the host try to make Joe Pesci re-enact the scene? Isn't that why he kept repeating he was funny, amusing etc. That's just what Ray Liotta said in the scene. Didn't work with Mr Pesci though, he's a badass.

He nails the answer, because for me, it was always one of the scariest scenes in any movie!! No humour, WT???? Where humour, the audience understands he’s ‘crazy & kills people’ & this is a real killer, based on a man that was a lot scarier in real life, so I can see why Mr Joe gave such a direct, ‘puzzled’ answer!!

The thing with Pesci is that he was around wiseguys, he knew them and he knew the stuff they would do, so basically he kinda absorbed that but just like Ace Frehley, he got out of that element and became a great actor... He always has been a nice guy and God knows he has a heart of gold, but the life he led forced him to be a tough man.

Joe Pesci is too smooth with it. It was nervous laughter, and it was a bit of banter between two colleagues. It was an iconic moment between him and Ray Liotta (RIP 🌹). Really fantastic film (Goodfellas for those that don’t know).

I remember seeing that scene in the cinema when Goodfellas first came out-you could feel the tension in the audience when watching it. Brilliant acting and film-making. One of Scorsese’s finest films

Some of what the character said, the way Joe said things, were very funny. The coffee scene in Stacks’ apartment, the warming up the car scene after Morrie got shivved, the beginning and end of the Funny how? scene. All hilarious while also being dark (showing how much of a psycho Tommy DeVito was as a person).

I remember once I was at a college party and some random kid I didn't know at all said I was funny in front of a few others. I started doing my version of recreating that scene from Goodfellas... What do you mean I'm funny? Funny how?! What do you mean, like a clown? I amuse you? I'm here for your fucking amusement?! FUNNY HOW?! HOW THE FUCK AM I FUNNY?! I don't know if this kid lived under a rock, or what but he was scared shitless. The fear in his eyes. Made me feel bad, lol. So obviously I broke down and was like, dude you never saw Goodfellas?! I was imitating Joe Pesci from a movie. He was soooo relieved....

Fun fact. The scene was improvised. Everyone except Joe and Ray knew what was going on. They just kept the camera rolling.
