Outwitting the Devil is a work of fiction that was written in 1938 by Napoleon Hill, which was considered too controversial to be published in its era. The book is written as an interview between Hill (Mr. Earthbound) and the devil (our inner dark self), wherein Hill attempts to uncover the secrets to freedom and success by evaluating the greatest obstacles that humans face in order to attain their personal goals in life.

Read this book if you dare. You must be spiritually ready. Listened to this two years ago and casually began applying it's principles. Since then my life has transformed. There has been immense struggle as " the devil" (your toxic false beliefs and thought patterns) will not go down without a fight. I am in Gods light now and still working hard, but it was brutal.

There’s nothing wrong with fear. It exists to protect us, warns us of danger, and prevents one from proceeding recklessly. I’ve learned trust fear, but fear exists meant to be conquered. First learn what causes the fear & understand it. Fear is a powerful motivator, it can kick in adrenaline to make one exceed one’s limits & run faster, move stronger, than otherwise. Fear helps the rabbit outrun the wolf chasing it. Fear is destructive when not understood, respected, and results in inaction. The rabbit that immediately runs when the wolf arrives has a much better chance than the rabbit that hesitates, and tries to escape too late and is easily caught/eaten. Fear is a primal instinct and powerful motivator. What Hill/Devil discuss here with fear, is succumbing to it. I had a huge job interview, and I felt great fear of failing to get the job, again, but fear of that motivated me to engage an interview preparation group, practice my interviewing in sessions that made me improve my interview skills, and I delayed gratification-my team was playing in Finals for championship, but I spent the night beforehand practicing my interview questions. In the end, fear turned into confidence. I got that $100k job. That’s the lesson.

Rebirth. Rebirth appears central to the practice of hermetic philosophy. The process would begin with a candidate separating themselves from the world before they rid themselves of material vices; they are then reborn as someone completely different from who they were before.

Say what you want as to whether or not this is a real interview via clairvoyance, but I used to be on half a dozen psych meds, several narcotic strength meds, smoked, looked at porn, and other shit and it ruined my state of mind, until I did the work and got off all but one medication, quit smoking, quit porn, and am working my way up to the top and went from being diagnosed with half a dozen mental disorders to being more mentally fit than I've ever been in my life!! The things said in this interview, about cigarettes, about drifting, are absolutely true 100%

Issue with me... I have been a 'self-aware' Drifter my entire life... I am unable to figure out a purpose/what do I REALLY WANT and thus fall into the categories of "Jack of all trades, but not really good at any" & "Begins many ventures, but does not always complete them" on many, many occasions. I understand that the majority of the time it was the fear that kept me from further pursuing the endeavors, instead opting to remain in the safe/shelter of it all and thus Drifting! Insightful book. Will definitely listen to this again from time to time and will pass this to friends/acquaintances that I know will benefit from this and be open to having sound discussions/work together in breaking free from being a Drifter!

Correction. Issue with you is your language: "issue with me", "I am unable to figure out", describing yourself as "begins ventures but doesn't complete them" Flip them on their head and say them out loud. Let me show you mine (I've stolen some from Mike Tyson) I am the man. There's no one that can match me. My style is impetuous. My defence is impregnable. I am ferocious. There’s an irony in that they realized they couldn’t publish the book at the time due to reaction it would receive, discussing War, particularly WWII, which was a true fight against evil. The fight was against such evil, that the U.S. & U.K. were “allies” with the USSR. Stalin was just as evil as Adolf, but his brutality remained within his own borders vs. invading other countries. And Japan’s cruelty to China-one can argue that Japan began WWII in 1937 with their invasion of China & its stunning how few know about the historical atrocities were committed by the Japanese at that time.

Fascinating book. Even if the only thing you walk away with is, make SURE you don't drift through life. Be clear on your Aims and Goals and have an organized life directed towards your important goals. Be strong in deciding what you want and stick with it. Lack of clarity and goals and planning seems to be one of the main weaknesses that cause us a weak, loser lifestyle. He keeps going back to that point over and over. Don't slack on your main goals and planning otherwise your life will be weak and flimsy

Jordan Peterson correctly attributes a persons success is directly proportional to how contentious they are - organized, reliable, driven, timely, responsible. He also points out correctly how fine the line it is between “good” & “evil”. Most of the Germans & NA-ZIs who committed horrific acts upon others vs. the self righteous who say they ever could, have no idea how close they are to doing evil every day

This is not the most groundbreaking book you will read but I must say it's the first book that I've come across where I am successfully applying the teachings in my life. Everytime I come across something like lethargy or insecurity, I quickly remember that I must "outwit the devil" and undertake the opposite action. Other techniques are good but not effective long term. For example "being present" is a petty good life lesson but it's not effective sometimes. If you believe there is an opponent aka a devil that's making you feel this way, it's a lot effective.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled , was convincing the world he doesn’t exist
@ososupa8804
@ososupa8804 Жыл бұрын
That actually contradicts this entire philosophy. According to the Devil, fear of him is his greatest weapon. Fear comes from thoughts of awareness of an existing devil. The illusion is that he does exist,, and has power over humans. This confession is meant to teach humans that we are actually more powerful in terms of free will and decision making than the devil. All calamities cannot be avoided, but can responded to by way of choice.

@@silverforever15 Not exactly, It would just that you realized the power that you have over those negative thoughts. This is the realm of duality, Good and bad exist as a balance, It's the way the creator intended it to be. Hence free will. But humans don't like assuming responsibility So they would give that power to something else. Napoleon Hill accessed infinite Intelligence which is all there is and decided to ask all the question about the negative aspect of it. Remember what he said, if "the devil" didn't have a place in this world, there would be no World. At the end of the day, Life just "IS" Whether you see it good or bad. That's Up to you. Now there's another book which is the exact opposite of this "Conversations with God" check it out. According to God, the devil is a man made construct.

Thank you for posting this book, I’m only an hour in, so far it’s a good listen. I believe our perspectives on things can vary just listening to this. What I’m hearing is a lot of worldy things. The knowledge of good and evil being told throughout what I’ve heard. Which can cause you to be bound still to the teachings of man. We may end up fixating on feeling like financial gain, fitness, flattery or things that can gain the world will create real purpose. First you have to know your purpose and your path will be clear once God directs you in spirit. My purpose is for God, but I must say I’m quite conflicted at times with how to maneuver in this flesh realm. God has me here for a reason and when I do things it’s really without much thought. When you’re free from this world you’re willing to lose it all without gain but somehow you always tend to gain. I’ve witnessed this for myself. But fear will hold you hostage because you feel like you have to keep hold of things in order to be okay in this life. But that’s not the case. God always supplies. You just have to trust in God always and know that all things can be used for good. It’s just your perspective that will make or break a situation. God bless!! ❤

Anybody whose thrown off by the Rockefeller mentions must be told Rockefeller true history. Born to a poor Christian Family, Rockefeller was forced to dropout of school to work and help his mother pay bills. His father was never there, so as a young boy John D Rockefeller was forced to be a man earlier than most. He started an Oil Company when at church one day he saw the well spilling over. However his Oil business struggling poorly, until Cornelius Vanderbilt the railroad magnate offered Rockefeller a business proposition to transport barrels of Oil on his cargoes. Rockefeller secured the deal and his success was imminent. In 1929 stock market crash and global liquidity problem, Rockefeller used 100 million dollars of own money an and pumped it back into the system to curb the populace fears. I think the Devil is so slick that he knew if he mentioned Rockefeller’s name early in the book, it would stop most conspiracy theorists that believe they’re are already woke because they in the Illuminati, from accepting or at least THINK about what’s being said here

All of that is fear corn, it’s a pain, especially cause they’re good at it. During covid esoteric knowledge started flooding KZfaq, not the good kind, the lazy apathetic surface level summary of really cool practical knowledge. This makes people think they’ve take something from it when they really haven’t. On top of that a bunch of channels constantly uploading of upcoming war, mass depleting resources, and of course defaming all of those esoteric groups. They used to physically gatekeep most of this stuff but with the Information age they can’t anymore it’s out there so their next best bet was to muddy the waters in any way possible. If you hear it wrong through a poor lazy source, if you become to focused on material survival, or are too afraid to seek these groups out yourself due to fear they promote “you’re not yet ready” for what they offer, personally I feel it was an overreaction to a legitimate issue but they botched it bad, whatever harm would have come from people receiving that knowledge too soon has been outdone by their actions to suppress it. Just a game theory tho. There’s nothing to be afraid of, that much I’m sure of.

Fascinating. I imagine that most Think and Grow rich lovers won't like this book because most that are heavily into non religious, personal development, find a concept of devil as silly nonsense. I used to be on that camp. Now, i totally believe in a dark force lurking that takes hold of minds and souls. I don't agree with 100% of what he says though. He is saying there is no hell and making religious people sound like fools. This is a very nuanced subject because, yes, many fundamentalist types are foolish people, but there are some Churches teaching the truth and a beacon of light and good fellowship to humanity. Anyway, this audiobook is fascinating and even with it's shortcomings, it is worth listening to.

I haven't personally read it hundreds of thousands of times yet, only 3 times. I do however plan on following one of my mentor's footsteps who have actually read them about a thousand times.

This helped me through a rough patch in life a few years ago, and I love that despite the title it's not really a religion based book. As an agnostic that's able to understand the metaphors, it's great stuff.

I got to get a book copy in my library. I already got think and grow rich and the low of success complete textbook. I inherited them for my grandfather. If there's any other books Napoleon Hill wrote I wouldn't mind adding those two.
