I remember meeting him at a poetry slam for my high school, in which I was a participant, (I ended up in second place my high school was also in Washington Heights, NY) in like 2004, and it was a liberating experience to meet him when I was only 16 years old. (I believe that the face on his t-shirt is his deceased brother, he spoke about it at the jam, very enlightening.)

this was the first poem he performed at my school. this is where he had me hooked to the point where I was hanging on from word to word. ♥

This entire poem is about how its NEVER ok to disrespect a woymn. not that you can pick and choose which ones "deserve" it. -then again, as most poetry or art, it is up for interpretation. All I can say is, in my opinion, its not your place to decide who is and isn't a "lady".
