Over the back belt grip
Belt grip compared to head grip gives more ability to lift uki up and prevent him from dropping to avoid big throws.
From this grip always pull in tightly
- if head is in front with legs close O soto, legs far O goshi
- if head is behind legs close O soto, legs far push head down with elbow and uki otoshi
- if arms are extended pushing you away use inside grip at the wrist to take control of arm and throw uki to the same side as his head.
- if the second arm escapes move into Overhook and control the head. Throw forward if head is down or O soto if head is upright.

Damn. I wish you had been my coach. None of those throws were traditional judo throw from the gokyo no waza. (Or maybe I'm forgetting). But dam they all look effective at getting uki to the ground. I just wish I had more time to train so I could get some reps in on these techniques. 😢 Thank you. Great stuff. Happy 4th of July.

These are applications of the judo throws after a specific entry and defense situation. They can all be traced back to traditional throws. A lot of different versions of uki otoshi and O soto gari or gake as well as some O goshi.

Just learning traditional throws is supposed to give you basic pieces you learn to fit into the puzzle of rondori, you you may need to move them around or rotate them to get it to work.

@@Judo_Jon yeah man I stopped doing Judo at brown belt. I know there is way more to it and I love watching videos like this to see it in action. Today I only get to do Judo with a few former Judoka after karate class. Like I said I wish I had more time. And thanks for the reply
