"As you all know, after the Hundred Year War, Avatar Aang, along with Fire Lord Zuko, stole Earth Empire land and formed the United Republic. This land belongs to the people of the Earth Empire and it's time to take it back! Republic City will be ours!" Considering these two sentences, such as the fact that they have their own army (built through the joint efforts of other nations) and how we do not see the Republic City being subservient to the Earth Queen at any point, I would easily conclude that it is indeed a fifth nation.

With the whole “a firebender blew up the building, so it might not be the north” thing is phrased super weirdly. Like it’s been established that there are firebenders in the north that can have their loyalty bought, and I’m sure that the city itself has a ton of thugs that would do the job if they were paid (which is exactly what happened btw) so it’s not that weird when Korra (and even the cops) assume it’s the north. What IS weird is that no one seems to care is when 1 Mako IDs the guy 2 when this like actual act of terrorism happens there’s such a nothing reaction, like “it was the north, cased closed??”

To me the Milo part in this episdoe largely marks where he turns from the bumbling doofus into the annoying kid who always wants to be in charge. Not the best change, but at least more character than he had in the beginning of the show. And it fits with his approach to training the recruits in Book 3. He'd actually make for a great villain for a sequel season. The Air Nomads take on the role of a kind of independent police force during Book 4, with Milo pretty invested in it despite his young age. I can imagine him taking over once he's old enough, expanding the force under his strict and methodical rule. At first it all seems to go well, them working with local law enforcement and at request of the Avatar. But as Korra retires and eventually passes away (possibly earlier than most, due to what she's been through), the power starts to go to Milo's head. He sees himself as the "Hand of the Avatar", directly appointed by Korra to help ensure the balance of the world. And now that she's gone, it's on him to enforce that! So bit by bit he refuses to cooperate with local powers when their view on something differs from his, and eventually starts to actively impose his rule over them. His highly trained forces with their extreme maneuverability, unparalleled control over the sky and (introduced bit by bit over the decades) modern weapons pose a threat for even the traditional armies of the big nations and their war machines. While absolutely convinced he's doing the right thing, the old High Admiral Milo of the Air Guardians become an absolutist ruler who keeps chipping away at the other nations - mostly with promises of a better life "in perfect balance with the world, not ruled by the constantly warring nations" /oh the irony), but also with force if need be... As the opposing voice in the Air Nation, Jinora unifies all air benders under her who don't share Milo's extreme views. Her physical body has become old and frail by this point and rests at her home temple, cared for by her most trusted pupils. But her spiritual abilities have only grown over time, to the point where she can project perfect astral representations of herself (or an idealized self anyway) pretty much anywhere she chooses - given she is familiar enough with the place and no one else with their own spiritual training "repels" her. She tries to foster the culture of the Air Nomads as reasonably as they can fit into the modern world, keeping their traditions and values alive. But that's a hard task, since the average population mainly knows air benders from her Brother's forces and so isn't very likely to lend her cause an open ear...

2:13 Moon continuity will forever live in my head rent free 11:35 To be fair, some exclamations can be used as "swears" usually as a form of self censorship. Like "What the wowza" or "What in the yikes." Still odd and uncommon, especially for a police chief, but not unheard of. Or for the other way around, "fuck yeah" is a much more common thing. "What the flameo," "What the fuck," "Flameo hotman," "Fuck yeah hotman."

Imagine how much better Mako would be as a villain, that or a good guy who almost becomes bad. I season one his dad works for Amon’s dad, they’re portrayed as fairly good people only doing bad things cause there starving and desperate for money. Then Amons dad starts blood bending civilians and innocents are know at risk causing Aang to get desperate and use the Avatar state recklessly causing collateral damage that kills Mako’s dad. Aang feeling guilt would become more isolated from his other kids and try to use Tenzen to spread peaceful air bending philosophy so things like this don’t happen again. Amon after learning this would become afraid of the concept of powerful benders in general, trying to get revenge on his dad by just being a better version of him in every way, a more responsible version that prevents benders from using there gifts so recklessly, Maybe amons dad would also not lose his bending and use it to abuse his kids which makes Amons distaste for powerful benders even more justified. Then there would be an intense scene after Bolin is kidnapped we’re Mako give a speech. “Do you ever feel powerless, know mater how strong you get there’s always someone better, someone who will always take something from you and you can’t do anything about it?” Korra would state she doesn’t feel this way and Mako would give her an unhinged glare, “of course you don’t, you’re that avatar after all” he says. This could make Korra a better character to, having to develop into someone who doesn’t use her abilities to just bully people into submission since a power dynamic is what caused the whole problem Korra mindset is almost must change and she must become a better person to prove to Amon that she deserves her abilities.

I have a REALLY hard time believing that Korra, with her FULLY REALIZED AVATAR STATE, couldn't just "wipe out" Unaloq and his army herself. Since when did the avatar need an army?

1:53 The two explosions are completely different though. One is in an enclosed space and came upon Zuko unsuspectingly, Makos is outside so he actually has space to bend the fire away and SAW it coming.

12:48 Korra was going to the Fire Nation i believe. That how she wound up washing up on a fire nation island with the firebenders in the next episode. The REAL questions is how Eska and Desna found her because they are a LONG ways away from the south pole and there's no way they just Waterbended the entire way there lol

“How come you aren’t dating one of those 2 lovely girls”-Mako’s Grandma “One of them got jealous because I was concerned for girl #2 here who was in emotional and physical distress and this one barged into my office, destroyed my workplace and expected me to lie to a government official.”

The Republic City arc of season 2 is definitely the worst bit. Not only does everyone act like a complete idiot and are far too hostile towards each other, but absolutely nothing is accomplished after multiple episodes - the president still refuses to send the military to help stop Unalaq.

1:53 "Zuko was kind of wack at firebending..." To be fair he legitimately wasn't a great fire bender. In tabletop terms he basically multi-classed into fighter with his swords, and was known to not be a particularly gifted fire bender within his family. The guy you're comparing him to is someone who can lightning bend.
@holadebolaАй бұрын
Zuko was one of the greatest fire benders in his generation. He beat admiral Zhao as a teen and stood up to Azula (albeit weakened Azula, still Azula) in a 1v1. He might not be as gifted as her, but she’s stated to be the most talented prodigy in her generation. The Airbender show does not work like a tabletop game. He was cracked at sword fighting, fighting in general and also fire bending. He wasn’t top 1, but easily top 10 in the whole story, so it’s nonsense to classify that as ‘not great at firebending’.
