I use a Festool 10.8v CXS screwdriver for my board work, it lasts ages on the batteries and weighs at least half of your combi drill, impact drivers are over used by most trades.

Bought one couple of year ago, just for DIY for the family, still in the box, can't wait to use it. Bought stilts too, walking on stilts for two hours when not used to them is a killer, doing it while skimming a ceiling, with plaster going off...on your own is a bloody nightmare, shoulder got that sore it was a frozen shoulder within three months..., don't anyone let my tale put put you off tho.

I used to hire a board lifter for £30 for just one day or £55 for the week. I also used foam at the back of boards over rough artex to pack. No asbestos after 1986 that i knew of. Best not scrape though. My right elbow would pop then hurt when carrying boards on my own when i got to 50+. Good work

Board lift, Great for saving your shoulders for skimming later + it cuts out the labour ( Trigger )😉 Saves on picking up/ dropping off and buying him a Breakfast foll / skinny latte, if your a 1 Man band, compact bit of kit, store in lockup when not required

Nice video Blain. Have you tried the stud buddy to find the joists, I’ve found it really good even on thick artex. I also swear by my board lifter, especially as a solo plasterer like yourself. 👍

I got some small neodymium magnets from ebay. They can be used to mark the fixings when finding joists.

After watching this video is it OK to cover the old plaster board predated 2000, with new boards the way you doing it even though the ceiling is dipping in some areas 20mm and cracks of 2mm,

Hi buddy, got a question for ya. First off your the reason I as a total plastering novice is going to chip off and re-rendering the pebble dash on my house. Here's the question. I'm using hp12 basecoat and I'd like to know how long you'd leave it before leveling it off. I've practiced on a garden wall and found that hp12 pulls clean off every time I use my feather edge any tips?? Plz lol

Have you ever worked with toupret joint skim & fill? Husband has seen some videos on it and it looks pretty good, he was thinking of using it in our bedroom to skim the walls since taking previous owners wallpaper has taken a few bits out the wall. Doesn’t need mist coated and doesn’t flash when you paint it compared to normal plaster apparently. Maybe try it out and do a video review? Thanks

Ha, I got off Ebay, Prices were going mad just after all the lockdowns but one came up at £113 so I snappit up, listing jumped to £145 next day then £185 by end of the week. Just had a look, back down to similar prices now Jan 2024.

Just use 9.5 mm for ceiling. They are light as anything

If you think there is any asbestos do NOT drill holes into it wether it's a small dose or not, asbestos is ridiculously harmful and WILL cause health issues, get rid of it completely and properly, I'm sorry but I had a family member who suffered with asbestos poisoning and I just cannot agree with the video on this one, asbestos should not be messed with if you don't know what your doing or have the correct equipment and ppe to remove it
