excellent, so actionable and the knowing fo what you are doing when engaging in breath meditation really is helpful I find. Speaking of finding things .. the videos don't seem to pop up in order and can be tricky to find as some have similar titles. Maybe popping link to following video in description would be useful . Thanks as always

Absolutely amazing! Can't wait for the next video. So what do you recommend for people in a very panic stricken way of thinking. Say for example panic disorder to do straight away? Thanks for the video.
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments 5 жыл бұрын
Panic disorder is horrible, it's basically some software installed in your amygdala that has been programmed to fire a full-blown danger threat fight or flight emergency crisis state in your body as if you really are in mortal peril. Of course, it's wrong and you are not; it's like having some faulty virus detection software installed on your computer that keeps locking or shutting down your computer when there isn't any real threat. My treatment solution is firstly shrinking and dampen down your overactive amygdala with meditation brain training to grow and develop the TPN, brain scans have shown this shrinks the amygdala and calms down its reactivity :-) Do this for 30 minutes a day for 100 days to start with and then the 2nd phase is to reprogram or rewrite the software installed in the amygdala. If you already know what triggers the panic that's helpful, you can start to use graduated progressive exposure whereby you bring up in your mind's eye the triggering scenario and at the same time do meditation or deep relaxation. The amygdala then learns that you can be in contact with the triggering thing and at the same time your body and nervous system are staying relaxed and it learns this thing is not a threat. It's immensely difficult to do this type of work by yourself, this phase needs to be done with a trauma psychotherapist, in my practice I use NLP and hypnotherapy. In my practice I'm experimenting with enhancing this process by preloading calming antianxiety herbs just before performing the reprogramming exercise, this is a technique being experimented on by the American Marines for soldiers with PTSD, what they do is take a drug like ecstasy to flood the brain with relaxing and soothing serotonin and then bring up the traumatic experience; the results have been phenomenal.

ive read that physical activity is all that is really needed to rewire a brain away from anxiety. also from studying i see this may be true as exercise increases GABA function in the PVN with increased gaba neurons, GAD enzyme, gaba, and less glutamate in the PVN... which controls the HPA axis. would exercise be all that is required to rewire from anxiety?

Sorry for wasting your time. I didn’t make the part 3. This is what I do for a living, after I thought it through I decided I would make the whole thing into a course. During lockdown I got busy just earning a living. I’m currently making a new video on bipolar then bey September I’ll start making the course with all the techniques. When I first make it available for sale the price will be reduced, probably about $100. If you’d like to be informed when it’s available you could drop me an email and I’ll let you know.

Have you heard of neurofeedback? Can that be used to train up the TPN?
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments 5 жыл бұрын
Yes I do know about neuro feedback and see it as a potentially very useful therapy, but like with everything results vary between individuals. As far as it being a good way to train the TPN goes that's an interesting question, you are certainly hyper- focusing in performing a task when you perform neuro feedback and therefore there will be heavy recruitment of the TPN, however whether or not this is better, worse or similar in its ability to combat anxiety I'm not sure. Something that I've often thought is why does 30 minutes of meditative practices that recruit the TPN have antianxiety therapeutic effects compared to say spending 30 minutes a day shooting basketball hoops. In both exercises you concentrate on the task, you engage the insular is perception of your body position, perhaps sounds and an even stronger engagement with the sense of touch when you're shooting the basketball hoops; but this type of exercise doesn't do what meditation can do. Notwithstanding that exercise is good for anxiety it doesn't do all the things that meditation does, it doesn't shrink the amygdala, it doesn't reduce inflammation (not by the same mechanisms), it doesn't produce hormonal stress physiology (principally cortisol) that improves the sensitivity of the amygdala to GABA. As yet no one really understands quite how meditation achieves these and the other effects, meditation activates and deactivates specific genes, it increases the telomere length which are little extensions on the ends of our DNA that snap off when cells reproduce. This isn't a scientific explanation that the best explanation I can give is this: my personal experiences when I sit in a state of peaceful meditation with minimal external distractions, focusing inwardly even if I'm listening to exterior sounds and training my own brain how to state manage i.e. change and manage my psychological state, is a completely different learning experience to when I engage in external activities. There's something empowering about figuring out how to hack into my own brain circuits using the power of my own mind that I found profoundly helpful; perhaps it's a kind of self-mastery. But the bottom line is use whatever works, use both perhaps each one will add to your recovery/wellness. We are only just beginning to understand how to use self-directed neuroplasticity, for the first 20 years I was in practice not that much changed in neuroscience but the last 10 years have been revolutionary. I'm hoping within the next 10 to 15 years someone will work out how to make an accurate brain scanning machine that is cheap and available for home use so that you can see what's happening inside your brain in real-time and then the gaming industry could develop

I know anxiety is about rewiring your brain. Will increased BDNF levels speed up the rewiring process? Will you recover faster with increased BDNF levels?
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments 4 жыл бұрын
Yes that's right. What I do for my patients is get them to use a diet, exercise and combination of natural remedies that boosts BDNF/neuroplasticity throughout their brain training. I'm experimenting with taking a bdnf boosting stack of supplements 1 hour before doing the brain training. Still trying to work out is it best to take the stack before the training or that night before bed when most neuroplasticity regeneration occurs. I'm going to be doing online classes for the brain training and it will include instructions for how to do the neuroplasticity boost.

Is it a bad idea for someone with a medicated psychotic disorder to be doing meditation?
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments 4 жыл бұрын
Meditation has a very very low risk, but as with everything there is still a potential risk. The benefit to risk ratio of meditation is huge. One general issue is rapidly changing the wiring in the brain could destabilise psychological structuresyou rely on for stability, the safe way to minimise this is to start meditating slowly, say 15 mins a day for the first 2 weeks then 20 mins and never more than 20-30 mins a day; DO NOT go on one of those 10 meditation retreats. Another thing is chose meditation techniques that are grounding such as mindfulness of breathing and avoid anything like zen-empty-mind techniques or expanding your consciousness, or out of body states. Avoid anything that lends itself to or play into the hands of the to psychosis. Good luck with your healing journey
@messiah_genes1117
@messiah_genes1117 4 жыл бұрын
@@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments ok thanks, I understand. It is generally well controlled but sometimes the psychosis can start to break through a little bit. It's not enough to destabilise me though thankfully. I do have anxiety so I'm my just looking of ways to improve it whilst treading carefully with the psychosis. I have heard that the 10 days retreats are very intense and I'd really hope that if someone like myself turned up, they would point blank refuse me for my own safety!

So where is the meditation?
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments 2 жыл бұрын
Plans changed. With the pandemic lockdown my London clinic shutdown and I was preoccupied with just earning a living and staying afloat. No time for making more videos. Anyway now the plan is to make the meditations into an online course, not going to set a release date, juts some time this year. I’m putting a lot of work into the course, it will be expanded to include meditation techniques specifically for depression, anxiety and bipolar, and also how to change the way your body and brain respond to stress to change the health consequences of stress. The gold is to become immune to stress to prevent stress from triggering mental health problems. If you want to get notified when this course becomes available send me your email address and I’ll notify you
