3 жыл бұрынOur next adventure I chose in order for Karen to gain confidence in an area she had lost 2 years previous. We were trying to reach the "Refuge de Requin" through the glacier “Mer de Glaces” next to Chamonix and while she was jumping over a crevasse on and holding my hand, she landed wrongly and badly twisted her ankle. From this experience, she had a deep fear of glaciers and crevasses.

Just a quick note: the lake at the end of the glacier appeared only recently. I saw it about 8 years ago and lake was not there. I guess now it will be a constant presence.

I just saw you comment now :-( You are right... It's incredible how quickly glaciers melt!! I visited recently la 'Mer de Glace' (Mont-Blank massive). It has lost over 20m in height since my last visit in the 90s.
