Nice video. What about when a car bumps the hydrant harder than they thought, toppling over the hydrant to where it now parallel to the ground, gravel, sand. It's fucking laying on its side! Or the kids took it as a keepsake. How to get water from the hydrant less hydrant?

If the hydrant is laying on its side. Firemen will simply move to the next closest functional fire hydrant.

Your first problem can easily be avoided with proper maintenance of your fire hydrant wrench...

Unmaintained hydrants due to value freezing up or difficult to open, another pbm... Thread being boogered up if cap is missing can easily be avoided by routine maintenance of hydrant..

Stuck cap: is breaking the cap the only option?

you can sometimes hold the ring and chain with one hand and spin the cap but it would definitely be a slower method. If your in an emergency situation break it they can easily be replaced.
