Overgrown Neglected Garden Makeover | This New Zealand Flax was Out of Control!

Жыл бұрын

Another day, another disaster! This garden looks as if it has never been touched since it was planted and is well out of control. The plant is called New Zealand flax, and it's blocking access to the garage and is also just a general eyesore, let alone what could be lurking under all of that. This one is actually the front of the job with all the pots and another free cleanup. All up it took me around 3 hours to complete, and I took out around 0.5 trailer of green waste.
Workers on this job: George (Me).

FAQ's:
Q: Where are you located?
A: We are from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘🦘🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 4 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: We use mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs!
Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin!
Q: What happened to Brent?
A: Brent quit at the start of August 2022.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of cans?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I'm not really sure to be honest, maybe something to do with space & maintenance, but either way, it really is poor heat efficiency!
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee!
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!
Restoration, Transformation, Garden, DIY.

I guess they are used as ‘architectural’ plants, but they’re not pretty and cause a right mess. That was a tough place to work too, so good job. Did smile when you jumped away when you thought you heard something moving. If I thought it was a slithery reptile, you’d not see me for the dust! Lol

Thank you for showing the map of your country at the start of your video. As someone who’s never traveled Down Under, it gives me perspective. This was not a huge job compared to your last few, and we may only be seeing a part of the job as a whole, but it so interesting seeing how much work is involved in cleaning up just a small section of the garden. That you would clean the neighbors too, it’s something I would’ve done. But it’s above and beyond.

As for myself, I'd have begged you to dig them out by the roots & would have gladly paid the bill. I know you've said that you've never encountered a snake (in 4 years, if I'm not mistaken), but man, if I saw one, I'd completely lose it. I'd never make it in the lawncare business! Hi George, Did you hear something? I live near the river in Perth and we get Dugites, suppose if you get snakes they may as well be deadly ones. Had an encounter whilst mowing my lawn, one was wrapped around the water meter and reared his head to the lawn mower. Bad luck story for the snake, me, I took off and left the mower for a bit, finally finished mowing the next day. Another successful job for you but I would have put the tow rope around those awful flax plants and attached to the tow bar and driven off a bit and got rid of them. Just me. Keep up the good work. 😘
