Installing a Karls Kool RV fan system has fixed our issue as best it could without us having to purchase a new fridge. We review this fridge solution and offer some tips and tricks on how to install the unit.

@@nowhereboundtouring yes, I think I've done the necessary steps to have entered the comp.... Fingers crossed. By the way, we're at Tara Showgrounds at the moment and moving on to Roma on Sunday...then Injune, and Carnarvon Gorge before moving further north and west.....

Hey Michael, we don't cover the vents when travelling. We had that whole area sealed, so nothing gets through to the interior of the van. Cheers Katty

I wonder how much the baffle you made added to the improvement Karl? Regardless, air flow is king when it comes to anything that gets hot - whether its a fridge, a transmission or the diesel motor. The only thing that doesn't benefit from air flow is the cook top!

BEADS The standard caravan fridge seems to be a problem in every caravan in Australia

@@nowhereboundtouring Audio is either through left or right channel not both. Took me a while to figure out as I use earphones with but with only one in my ear. Karl, how do you find temps when driving and running on 12v. I hate my 3 way fridge as its useless on 12v thinking of going compressor fridge.

Hi Mike, The volume is recorded in stereo , on both left and right channels. That will explain why you are sometimes missing volume. We have a compressor fridge, so there is no difference whether driving or stopped. I do not think you will get the same performance out of a 3 way fridge. They are normally made to a budget. Hi Tim, I have just realised that the sound is recorded in stereo, on two seperate channels. That may explain why it is sometimes missing if you only have mono, or one speaker? Let me know if this helps. Cheers, karl

Again another rv or semi outdoor/ outdoor product thats not waterproof i find it totally ridiculous and highly frustrating especially in a tropical environment

Gday Bob, A water proof system would be the best solution, but it would also come with the extra cost. We will be giving this installation a real life test. If it survives of full time van life, corrugated roads, tropical, desert, dust, water, then I’m fairly sure it will outlast the life of a typical RV user. My only real concern is the fan bearings in bull dust type conditions. Cheers, karl
