Interesting, is it possible to do these moves without opening the guard? Magid is opening the guard and putting feet on mat when sitting up / pummeling / under hook / shucking

That underhand grip works better for all kinds of other positions. For me, if I can remember that, and the limp arm transition to trap that whizzer hand, it'll change the game. All I have to do now is build them damn inner thighs. (#ThighmasterBxtches)

What's stopping Bernardo from flattening his hand, rotating his wrist a little, and slipping that hand out?
@GorillaHands93
@GorillaHands93 2 жыл бұрын
Watch at 4:50…. You really gotta squeeze and pinch your elbow and bicep… if not yes the arm slips out.. Like any other grip if you are lazy shit will be week.

If you get the overhook but get flattened out (back flat to the floor), does this still work well? Can you still go for the triangle or do you have to try to get your hips out to the side first?
@trevorstephenbond
@trevorstephenbond 2 жыл бұрын
It depends. Being on your side cuts the angle and will increase your success rate of finishing. Some people can still finish from flat on their back especially people with long lanky legs. The overhook allows you to hold on to that arm that will allow you to successfully perform the technique.
@GorillaHands93
@GorillaHands93 2 жыл бұрын
So if you get flattened out your gonna try and pin their wrist to their chest (with that under grip I use in this video) and swing your leg around the arm rather than threading through like when you’re on your hip..
@TheElThomaso
@TheElThomaso 2 жыл бұрын
No, it's not going to work like this against halfway skilled opponents from being flat on your back. If you're flat, he will be able to posture upwards, so you can't lock the triangle (even if you can get the leg over the shoulder). If you try, he can also pressure forwards and shrug your leg by to attempt a decent pass. If you have the angle, your top leg can keep his posture broken, so this can't happen. It's also a lot easier to retract your knee (to throw it over his shoulder) if your sideways and extend away your upper body. When flat on your back, space is much more limited (for your knee to retract into).
