Күн бұрынLeaving Ohakune we pass the ski lodges and head towards Waiuru and Taihape. At Taihape the entrance to the old tunnel which the main line used before the deviation can be seen just past the old steam depot site. Unfortunately I left my spare battery at home and filming had to stop just past Mangaweka but not before getting shots of the great white cliffs that follow the Rangitikei River. There was just enough room to get arriving in Wellington and being greeted by Uncle Bernie.

Imagine in the winter John living in those railway houses at Ohakune you would be ramping up the stove and at night cuddling up to Mum,in retrospect it would have been the happiest days of your life?

Lovely Video John Kirby. By the way the chap at the end is smoking a falcon. Those were the days when you could stroll onto Waterloo Platform with a pipe in your mouth and a dog following.
