Overlanding to India Episode 14: Samarkand
We visit the third of the three kings cities on the Silk Road in Uzbekistan. Each of the three cities have there own charmes, for Samarkand it is a row of magnificent islamic monuments. There is however not really a classical city center like Khiva or Bukhara.
The visiting area is mainly in large green parks. All other old buildings are lost in time. But what remains are sights in outstanding beauty. I am so bold to say that some of them, specially in the interior can compete or are more beautiful then the most famous buildings in the world, like the Taj Mahal (by the way which was built by a ruler with Uzbekistani family heritage).
Judge for yourself!
