I've been spending so much time trying to figure out a low-cost way to mount my boards and now I'm just going to use a ratchet strap!

Thank you much! I have straps with hooks but I didn't know about endless straps until now (I have never seen them before). This is perfect. If any worries at all about mechanical failure, or one failing, you just put two for extra security on the roads and that's it, all good!

Love this. Simple and easy. I looked up mounting options and several kits were available for $80 or more. This gets the job done well enough. Thanks! Also, props to the wifey for her help.

I’ve been thinking about just doing this but everyone seems to bolt theirs down or use some fancy mounts. I thought I was crazy or something lol. Good to know strapping works for you and I’m just overthinking!

Yes! So simple! Works on my stock FJ Cruiser rack . I shortened the end of the strap just enough so it rolls up inside of the ratchet..Thanks for sharing.

I did this exact thing with my new bunker indust boards with these exact straps except I got the 4ft version instead of the seven and I don’t have to tuck any excess strap under the ratchet. The end sticks out about 8 inches past the ratchet and I just let it hang 😎

Thank you! I’ve never heard of endless ratchet straps, but this is so much more simple than creating a bolt on system etc. I was trying to figure a way to use my hooked ratchet straps before I knew about these. Any info on that shovel mount? That things pretty slick!

Overland Under Budget, Wat up! I though you are going to show a THULE style ski rack or YAKIMA surf board style rack, design and engineered by OUBudget, to hold your traction boards. :-)

Can you use the wingnuts and bolts that they also sell? I got those but when you put them through the two holes it’s impossible to turn and tighten as the wingnuts get caught by the tracks teeth. It would make more sense to use the outer holes but they don’t provide suitable bracket for that install.

I like that solution, but I like my traction boards to not occupy my gear hauling area of my rack. Really good solution though

I can't seem to find a light duty endless ratchet strap that will allow you to mount it to the rack like in this picture. images.etrailer.com/static/images/pics/e/m/em34416_14_100.jpg

Not sure the value of this vid. While everyone knows you CAN use straps, rope, even heavy duty tape to hold them down temporarily, the issue is that these solutions aren't good for leaving the boards up there over time. Unlike some stainless steel solution, the fabric straps will rot in the sun/rain/snow and you'll need to check the condition of the entire length of the straps before/after (maybe during) each trip. Especially if you get out onto public roads and highways. Last thing you need is a board flying off and causing an accident. Even the ratchet mechanism itself, in this case, is a higher-potential failure point than a simple bolt or one of those rods with the metal safety pin through it. A temporary solution? Sure. But you'd have to check this frequently if it was for a long road trip, or a daily driver. Not a "set it & forget it" option.
