Thank you so much for this tutorial. I was desperate to understand a chart for a center-out mosaic crochet. Because of you, I can... :)

Hi Ashlee I've watched a few centre out videos and yours is by far the best. Yes the graph covers round 4 but your explanation is fantastic!! Thank you so much!!😊

@@AshleeBrotzellDesigns the dc corners get 4dc in previous front loop right? I made a blanket that had many dc corners, and it looked good but asking you to make sure I did it ok. Thanks.
@AshleeBrotzellDesigns
@AshleeBrotzellDesigns Жыл бұрын
@1861gemini in this pattern every dc corner also has a dc for the first and last stitch of the side, so yes 4 dc go into the same stitch. I have other center-out patterns (such as the Celtic Knots) where the side of the square may not start and end with a dc even though there is a dcC

Hi Ashlee, glad I saw your video and realised I was doing dc corner right🥰 On round 4 its hard to see because of the graph top right corner. Thank you.

If you do the anchor stitch for the double crochets it makes the counting a little easier and the back of your work will look a lot neater as well
@AshleeBrotzellDesigns
@AshleeBrotzellDesigns Жыл бұрын
I do have a tutorial on doing anchored stitches: ashleeslint.com/2021/07/06/mosaic-locked-double-crochet/ However, anchoring stitches does affect the drape of your finished fabric (it is a bit stiffer) and some people find it drastically shortens the project (because each stitch is being pulled down a bit). I also don't mind the flaps on the back, I think it looks just as nice :) so my preference is not to lock each stitch in. I love how there are so many options though, everyone can find what works for them! ❤️

I do a completely different anchor and I don't get the floppies or the other thing you said.
@AshleeBrotzellDesigns

Most people use the anchoring to stop the "floppies" ❤️ I don't like the floppy corners lol There are a few ways to do it! Pros and cons of each method. Maybe someday I should make a video comparing the methods

I like this tutorial, I just can't see the corners very well because it disappeared behind the picture of the patroon

Yes, I know there's a point when you can't see it. It was a mistake. Perhaps you'd like to try this video instead, until you're confident in how to do the corners: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hNuepqacrZeoomw.html

Hi Ashlee, I’m new to your channel. I wondered what yarns do you prefer working with? Love your patterns. Love mosaic too! Not too sure about interlocking as yet. Thanks for your videos 💜

Hello! I'm so glad you like my patterns ☺️ Most of the yarn I have used is leftover acrylic scraps I've been given. I really enjoyed using new acrylic because before that I hadn't realized there could be soft, bouncy yarn like that 🤣 and then when I was sent merino wool (that KnitPicks Twill is used in the cover photo for this video) well I definitely fell in love! These last two years have been such a journey of exploration. I don't think i can say i have a preferred yarn yet except that i prefer new yarn and I usually am drawn to the bright colors!

This may be a dumb question? When starting any of these mosaic center-out sqaures, is 8 the magic number that is usually used? I thought I knew how to read a chart, but I only would have guessed a magic ring of 4. Do the other 4 stitches get assumed as "border stitch" corners? So they are not pictured in charts?
@AshleeBrotzellDesigns
@AshleeBrotzellDesigns Жыл бұрын
I'm not really familiar with how other designers do it but I use 8 because of how many stitches I need to work into on the next round. 1 for each side and 1 for each corner (where 2 stitches go into). I believe I have seen a tutorial where they started with hdc or dc and they used a different amount of stitches but I can't remember who that was

I only wish I could see where you're putting all your stitches. The box in the corner showing the pattern is right in the way. Is there a way to move it off the screen?

hi, I really liked your plaid with leaves. Did you draw up the scheme yourself? can I draw it from your finished plaid?

Hello! Thank you for your comment. I think there might be a translation issue, I am not entirely sure which pattern you're referencing. I draw all my patterns myself and you can find the complete list of my patterns at ashleeslint.com/patterns or you can check out my ravelry store because the pictures make it easier to see what each pattern is: ravelry.com/designers/ashlee-brotzell
