The shank on my 40k rated gooseneck ball is either 1 1/8" or 1 1/4", I can't remember for sure (installed it 4-5 years ago). Had to go buy a new bit because my 1" step bit didn't make a big enough hole.

Gotta say i like seeing proper pre trip setups. As someone who has a cdl running large construction equiptment for years i felt like i was always judged over pickup times because i was strict with what i would put on my deck or trailer resetting my gooseneck an trailer brakes based on the load. I switched careers partially because i was tired of being screamed at for taking too long as they were trying to penny pinch my time. Was tired of arguing that i was the driver and take 100% resposibility for my load Tldr: good on the Op for setting his load up properly!

That’s my dream vehicle right there. if i were rich i would buy an f450 or ram 3500 with a big ass gooseneck trailer and import it to sweden where i live. Not that i need a trailer or pickup truck. i would just use it to drive around hauling random stuff for fun and taking it to car meets and stuff like that. (pickup trucks with gooseneck trailers are EXTREMELY rare over here so it would get a lot of attention) in my entire life i have only seen one single pickup truck with a gooseneck trailer.

Yep, they have a gremlin in the programming on these, my tailgate has opened numerous times going down the road. Twice my gooseneck ripped the tailgate off. Ford fixed it, but it is a known problem.

I can almost guarantee 99% of people pulling trailers, none of them consider adjusting their headlights. The more weight you put on your rear axle the higher your lights are aiming. And you turn your high beams on and you start blinding the planes ✈️ in the air.

I wouldnt call it overloaded. Nothing broke. I loaded our JLG lift onto our 34' PJ the other day and the ball on my f650 broke through the part in the neck that the ball sits on. First time Ive ever had confirmation that I overloaded it.

Considering gooseneck is superior to fifth wheel I would just stick with the gooseneck and besides Factory Ford Gooseneck hitches are typically rated in the 20,000 lb range or higher

I love my PS MY FIRST WAS A ‘99 F250 Just got my ‘00 F350 lariat 4x4 MANUAL with 246K (2nd owner) 03 (6.0 unfortunately)F450 DUALLY She got 205K Got an 06 F350 4x4 lariat with 125k she just need injectors done,, ‘12 f350 king ranch 4x4 she’s got 300k as its the one we use the most for the rodeos she puts on like 8-10K a month mostly for rodeos!

I heard that the only reason the f350 and f450 duallys have their towing limit is just because thats the highest ford could make it without you needing a CDL to operate it. So theoretically its higher than what they say it is. And judging by how little the suspension moved on that dually i think that CDL theory is correct.

@@BillyBoucher-ql3pwits less then impressive. Its aad, if and suv ot truck hits a kid at just 20mph they had an 80% of dieing which is much higher then sedans. But then you ruin the visability, brakeing, handeling, etc. It becomes a disaster waiting to happen. If these guys never used these on public roads, then fine, we could call it art or their hobby. But they dont. Instead we have to breath their smog, take their hits, and give up valuable space. All for what can only be seen as ego. I hate sounding like some woke snob, but there needs to be regulations and permits for this stuff. Its the few runing it for everyone.
