Ironically the anime cuts a lot of extra info for instance ainz isn't isekaid from a normal scifi world, he's taken from a post apocalyptic dystopian cyberpunk world, where he stepped over street orphan corpses on a daily basis, ate nutrient paste, only got an elementary school level education at twelve (Normal for people like him), watched his mother drop dead from overwork, had never seen plants or stars due to the sheer destruction of the environment and to top it off the mega corps had replaced the governments as the main governing bodies.

Touch Me picked that name as a taunt: "touch me if you can", because he was so good that most couldn't even hit him with an attack.

The extra details the books give make it even more badass.

What I absolutely love about overlord is instead of introducing stakes to overcome, it introduces the stakes of the characters that are going to be killed by the main cast and makes you care about them, so while you understand why Nazarick is doing what they're doing, you have to feel bad for those they're killing.

Funnily enough, Shalltear is well above Ainz in terms of actual combat ability. She was min-maxed while he spent a lot on roleplay abilities. Ainz is just smart.

Overlord is my favorite anime of all time, I highly recommend it especially if you are an isekai fan

oh there were so many moments cut from this compilation... especially things like the 1 minute straight buffing of ainz its amazing also i love people first reaction of the name "touch me sama" its so funny background on his name is that hes an absolute power gamer who min maxes everything and specializes in stun locking opponents so he changed his in game name to "touch me if you can"

If I recall, Touch Me as a username was in itself a flex. Touch Me has some kind of deranged busted class he got from winning a PvP tournament, so what he's really saying with that username is "try to even touch me, I dare you."

I like how realistic Overlord is, everyone wearing something that fit with their class when fighting no matter what gender they are.. like, there is no bikini armour for female knight, even shaltear and albedo wearing full plate armour when in battle mode.. *if you think about it, Albedo's helmet looks like Ruin Sentinel Helmet from Dark Souls 2 *for Pelinal Whitestrake in the reply section, i think bikini armour in episode 1 season 1 is not a KNIGHT, more like thief class like clementine.. which is doesn't make sense if a thief wearing full plate armour with shield..

Ah yes, Overlord, the anime where the protagonist commits warcrimes like it's just Tuesday for him.

The novels are way better. Overlord is at it's best when the author goes into extrem amounts of detail in order to create a very realistic world filled to the brim with political intrigues (and of course ainz wont understand anything that is going on under the surface). The anime cuts most of this and though I would not call it a bad show at all, the adaptation and it's charakters sadly lose a lot of depth because of that

it's a statement that Ains' hardest fight was against one of his own. but it kinda makes sense that they would be comparable to Ains. as back in the game, Ains was a player, and the Guardians protected the guild against other players.

It is legit the only book series that I have ever enjoyed reading, and I constantly try other books that interest me, but none can ever hook me like Overlord did. So many strings.

The anime waters down a lot. Overlord is pretty gruesome and brutal, and some of the stuff that's implied to be going on in the background but is never really explored is real messed up. I love the series because its basically one of the unusual series where the protagonist and his faction just go full unrepentant villain mode sometimes. Its even funnier when the MC is largely just bullshitting his way through just about every interaction. He ain't your usual isekai hero. Its edgy, but its a fun kind of edgy.

The dub voice for Ains is a top tier voice actor and I’m not sure if anyone would’ve been more accurate to the character and just better in general.

The thing about Ains's last 2 skills that he used to get rid of Einherjar is that together they're basically the ultimate instant kill combo The Goal of All Life is Death makes it so that all instant death spells temporarily ignore ALL immunities and resistances, but at the cost of all of them having their cast set to 10 seconds Meanwhile , Cry of The Banshee was the instant death spell that kills everything in a specific radious And for those asking why he didn't just use this at the very beginning, if he had done that, Shalltear would have revived ,but would have still had all her mana and skills (including Einherjar) putting Ains into an unwinnable situation as there was no way he could use his half-baked melee build (which he would inevitably resort to as he would run out of mana eventually) to kill Einherjar and bring Shalltear's health back down to where Fallen Down could kill her before she killed him.

The anime does actually tone down some stuff because the LN content gets way too brutal for TV. Case in point, Clementine's death scene. In the anime Ainz stops after her spine and ribs snap and she vomits blood with her last breath. In the LN, he keeps going until a good amount of her innards were squeezed out through her mouth, like a toothpaste tube that somebody had stomped on. He was THAT pissed.

Him calling Shalltear a loli was so surprising for me because I actually never considered her one. Like to me a loli has to look like or sound like a child, along with being short and usually flat. But I never looked at Shalltear and thought she looked like a child, nor does the rest of the guardians treat her as such (except kinda this latest season when she is learning from Ainz). Mare and Albedo only ever tease her about being flat, not a short child. So I wouldn’t consider her a loli, where I would consider Beatrice from ReZero a loli because Subaru treats her like a child

I wish overlord would never end but the author wants to finish it soon. It was a good journey cant wait to see how it ends 🏴‍☠️

Awesome to see you checking it out. Was very into Overlord when reading the LN. (Also, consider the abridged version. Has some hype moments.) Overlord is interesting. Ainz is great, but the best parts are how the entire world is dealing with the massive powerhouse of Nazerick suddenly popping into existence. There are tons of perspectives. It’s really a shame that the anime fell in quality, since the LN just gets better and better as the world expands.

Shaltear is actually the youngest NPC at least interms of being made, since the update that brought some of her classes, ride/rise of the Valkries came out later, Her exact age isnt known but She seems to be younger than Aura which is around 70ish years old.

I love how faithful the series is to its roots in dungeons and dragons and other rpg elements. It's a great show easily in my top 3 of all time.

Honestly, Overlord took my favorite Anime spot. Originally Beserk and Log Horizon were the top, but everything in Overlord resonates with me when it's literally just me in an Anime...Skeleton Race from an RPG? Check. Necromancer? Check. Guild Leader/Officer? Check. Magic focus? Check. Political play? Check. Everyone assumes you are smarter than you are because you guess accurate a lot? Check. Roll with that assumption because it helps later when you need to get shit done? Check. And the list goes on...xD

the thing is Overlord did it first since this came out like what 2015 and elden ring is like what 2021 or something so its actually elden ring wrighting down what Ainz said to give it to one of their bosses after changing it ever so slightly

I will admit. I can't wait for the time when the meme of 'Buy my f***ing s***!' becomes a reality. Ainz really does everything he can to make the world he's in better.

Season 4 just got started last month, and now, the seriousness keeps coming, every Tuesday!

Shalltear was technically stronger than Ainz at that fight at the end of season 1. But Ainz was a (great) PvPer, knew exactly her strengths and weaknesses, and got all the preparation he could have before fighting her. Shalltear thought that, being one of the strongest floor guardians after Rubedo, got her victories through sheer brute force without planning. This why she lost twice in a row. The latest season is as good if not better than the first season. One example is that Albedo will do way more than just be a waifu now. A lot of politics will happen and things will move fast but in a great pace.

the great thing about this isekai, is that instead of the isekaid character being a hero, or not caring about a thing, he is like the "final boss/antagonist" of the realm the hero is summoned into.

I think it's important to remember when looking at character designs and names, the characters of Ains faction are literally from a game. Hence "Touch Me" being the name of a player in a game.

The funniest part is that so far that fight with Shaltear was the biggest obstacle on Ainz path.

Overlord came out in 2010 as WN and 2012 as LN, so anything you see that looks like overlord is inspired by it.

Overlord is my favorite Isekai and I would strongly recommend any Isekai enjoyers to check it out.

One of my favorite notes about Overlord is how they straight up call out the in-world creators of the guardians for their weird tastes.

The dub for this is also really good. It's currently on season 4 and the stupidity of one of the nobles of the Empire is hard to wrap your head around. It's a surprise he didn't get himself killed immediately.

The anime is fun, and the mach 9 clapping CG soldiers in S3 always make me laugh so hard from how shitty they are. The light novels fucking slap so hard tho. I cannot recommend them enough if you like the anime but wanted more details because dear god do they cut a lot of the small stuff. Plus S4 skipped like 3 whole ass volumes so they could be a movie later.

Fr Overlord is slept on, my favorite anime.

I don’t know if it’s been said or not, but, for anyone who didn’t know, Warrior Touchme was one of the top players of Yggdrasil, he was a world champion class player, and his name is actually a challenge to everyone he fights.

Overlord is definitely one of my favorite anime, and the great thing is, you can't go wrong with either sub or dub, both are great. Though for Overlord I do prefer the dub, but that's me. And the other thing, even though we see Ainz almost always dominate fights with little to no effort, the threat that there might be others of his level out there is always present. And seeing how the world reacts to someone of his power makes things really interesting, I can't wait for the new movie to come out, I need it. I know not everything is covered in the anime, but even though there are a lot of things cut from the source material, it's still a good adaptation in my opinion. It gives you a lot of the best parts in the anime, and the voice acting for either language is good. So when you watch the anime, and let's say it's several years or so later, however long the light novels go on for, and we get it all animated. I'm sure they'll handle it really well, and since they can't really include everything, it'll give people who want to know more, reason to go read the light novels. At least that's what I intend on doing once the anime is completely finished, I'll go back read the light novels and get to see what the anime left out.
