Overnight Camping in DIY Skoolie During Northeast Blizzard - First Night in the Bus!

Күн бұрынOver the last 6 1/2 months I've been working on converting a school bus into a tiny home on wheels (or and RV). It's still not completed, but I've been dying to sleep in it. So I figured why not spend the first night in the skoolie during a northeast snow storm. The temperatures were freezing, and I was freezing, but in the end it was so worth it to wake up to nearly a foot of snow! This is overnight camping in my unfinished school bus tiny home RV during a northeast blizzard. Thanks for watching!

Dude keeping warm is 90% of the fun of watching this type of show, and also having a good meal with it, may I suggest a new approach to this like soda can candle warmers and under bus skirt to block the wind, or outside fires with an awning by the bus side. Have fun you get my subscription.

Hope you had a great Christmas. I’m putting in a wood-burning stove for heat. I have a decided yet on which one. It’s between the the grizzly or the dwarf 4. That seems like so much fun sleeping out there. I just realize that you are in Pennsylvania. My bus is in Pennsylvania. I work on it in the summer when I go to my cousins house. He lives in Indiana, Pennsylvania. I just talk to him it’s December 26 and he says it snowing again. He doesn’t ever remember getting snow like this. I’ll be retiring this year so I’ll be finishing mine this summer. That’s why I love watching yours it’s keeping me motivated plus I can get some more ideas.

I have watched your videos since maybe the first or second month of the build. Early on I started liking all the videos after I watched them so I knew what I had already watched. This showed up on my home page today so I clicked on it to watch and I was two minutes in to the video before I realized you posted the video more than a year ago. I don't think I watched this when it first posted but it seems appropriate since we just had a mini snow storm.

We did our build in PA as well. Luckily we put in a pellet stove before winter got to cold. Hope you’re staying warm.

I used the exact same heater in mine to work on it and it didn't do a whole lot. Something with a fan to circulate the heat works loads better. A lot of people like a Mr. Buddy which is a propane heater that you can use indoors. Goodluck with keeping warm and absolutely love your Christmas decorations!! Can't wait for my first night in my bus!

Get some of those therapeutic body parts warmers. Same as shoe and pocket warmers. Most last 6-8 hours and can help the bed stay warm too

Hey nice one Matt. Well done on the first night, only get better from here on. Once you have those windows covered it will be easier. I would leave the radiator on low in the bus all the time to keep the worst of the chill down. Once the fabric of the bus warms, you will be amazed how warm it can be.

That thing is frigin sweet! Should’ve gotten a longer taller IH bus. But then again after 1993-1994 the good engines in em went bye cuz of the EPA.

Great video, it will help if you put I'm heavy plastic up over the windows it will keep the cold out from coming in the windows. And back door. We do that here in Indiana and it helps alot and you could prob turn heater up more.. good luck i can't wait to see it finished and I'm sure it's warming up there now

Get a zero below comforter makes a huge difference you'll be sweating without the heater

@@MattMaderic I was sleeping in my car in the winter with a zero below sleeping bag and I had to crack open the window . If you can't find the comforter you could get a zero below sleeping bag and you can unzip it and use it as a comforter or a sleeping bag .

I did that when I built my van! Lol not in the snow though. Oil heaters are very good but probably not for your use, they take forever to build up heat. Love the extra video 👍

Ps those kind of heaters suck. Better off using an infrared quarts heater for a cheap plug in heater

The heats escaping somewhere. There's most likely air leaks around the windows and the front section

Yes absolutely. The front still needs to be insulated and the windows will be getting insulation covers for cold nights!

Some heat may be escaping, but more than likely his heater isn't running at full power because of the length of extension cord hes using. Hes getting a voltage drop more than likely.
