I think a longer term version of this would be amazing to see, like 2 hours instead of 30 minutes, giving more time to actually do more thinking and not making spur the moment decisions. For example maybe you decide to fish in the swamp for Greninja

Pokémon Gen 5 does have some of the best Pokémon ever: Hydreigon, Volcarona, Scoliopede, Golurk, Gigalith, Leavanny, Zoroark, and Haxorus. The problem is that it also had some of the worst designed Pokémon ever, and that’s why people don’t remember it too fondly.

It's not as fun when people didn't know how it worked, and you took advantage of it, to basically have an anticlimatic battle against others. And you still lose in the end with max level pokemon due to skill difference.

Man Gen 1 has stuff like a pile of goo (3 of them), a rock (like 5 if you count Rhydon and Rhyhorn), 3 fish and 2 literal seals. Gen 5 has stuff like Mienshao, Gen 6 has stuff like Noivern, Gen 7 has stuff like Mimikyu, Gen 8 has Zacian, Gen 9 has a whole lot of disappointments, pretty much all it is.
