I truly think Matt Lafleur should get some recognition as Coach of the Year. A team that, at 3 and 6, traded away their starting CB to get draft capital and build for the future... Then going 6-2 the rest of the way and not only making the playoffs... But BEATING THE 2 SEED! Edit: yes I know the playoffs don't count on CotY awards. I was just putting it in here to help explain my point. We have the youngest team BY FAR in the NFL. If you look at them, there are more than a few reasons why he should be CotY.

Unfortunately that kind of decision just seems too risky for most players in a sport like football. Tom’s decision to be massively underpaid contributed hugely to the continued success of the Patriots dynasty but it’s rarely discussed because it feels wrong for the media to say a player should make a personal sacrifice for the betterment of the team because of how often teams handle players in ways that suggest they don’t really care about them personally. Basically trams treat players like employees instead of family and so players are now doing the same but in reality if you want long term success it helps to have mutual respect and understanding like Tom clearly had in New England

I fully believe Rodgers was holding the Packers back. He was incredible as an individual player (regular season anyway), but he was playing to be MVP, not to take the team to the SB. He didn't buy into LaFleur's offense so it didn't work. He didn't want to be the old guy in the locker room where he didn't/couldn't/wouldn't trust his young receivers. He just wasn't right for the new system so yeah, he was holding the team back. All just my uneducated opinion of course.

@@zacharysmith2983 Go to TWO straight NFC championships and what? Nothing to show for it but bad loses and a pouty Rodgers. Got worse every year. It's like a bad relationship. One party starts pulling away and it's a downward spiral from there. "Better than that" to me is a team that acts like a team lead by what appears to be an extremely talented QB who wants to be there. They're playing with house money at this point. Extremely successful season win or lose again the 9ers. I'm glad we moved on and excited for the future.
