You just have to cut them up and make sure they’re originally in time. The singer should be going to a metronome in the background, and you shouldn’t have to make any HUGE adjustments - otherwise it’ll start to sound unnatural and you might as well just re record

Imma be honest, the No background elements version sounded much cleaner and more pleasant to listen to. It’s very easy to overdo the whole ear candy thing.
